I learned in IT, no matter how much you trust data or a device, back it up.
Any time i create a new model, especially something complicated, I export it a memory stick and put a copy on my laptop. Same with my DX20 for that matter. Like a fire extinguisher, better to have it and leave it gather dust than to need it and not have it.

I know this is happening with other radios, a friends Jeti dumped his BVM F-16 file. Another friend is on his third iX20, all software related.
These radios should be reliable first, cutting edge technology second.
But yeah good advice.

However it's easier than you're making it.
Plug in a USB stick
Go to the model change screen, select the model you want and hit EXPORT (note that you don't have to load the model to export it, just highlight the model you want and hit EXPORT)
Save it somewhere because if you use the same USB stick to do a CORE update it will format it.

I took a moment to save my other models today and yeah, a moment is about how long it took. I spent more time formatting the drive. Hopefully I learned enough that reprogramming the Mephisto will go easier this time.
The response on the Powerbox Support Forum and from Powerbox America is basically that there is a known problem with the radio losing model files during transfer. The problem is not fixed yet. But apparently it is a different part of the radio than when flying so if your model loads you are safe to fly, and if it does lose a file it is safe to reload the model from your back up USB drive.

You know, I have been flying RC since 1975 (Heathkit/Andrews H Ray/Enya 19) a ton of radios, and this has never happened to me. Let's just say it is a "modern" thing. We seem to be losing control of our tech. I only just retired from flying (Boeings for the last 26 years) this month and honestly, it was a little bit like this at work, the whole, "what is it doing now" question regarding flight computers and auto everything. So I have a bit of an attitude that it shouldn't be necessary to back everything up and prepare for the worst. But I'm being unrealistic.
I think I can do a better job this time around at using the radio to its potential and being retired time is not a problem. I reported my experience to help others to do the right thing and be prepared. Both you Sheldon, and a local Powerbox rep who is my flying buddy, and I, have all backed up our models today in case this glitch happens to us so I've done my part.
I still love my new radio but the manufacturer and distributors should really be sending out these messages, not me!

I am having problems with the configuration of the Core throttle trim and Jetcentral SE and SP turbines.
I'm not sure how I set the Throttle trim to on and off the turbine.
Could someone please upload a picture of the throttle trim setting?
thanks in advance

IAS and GPS (Powerbox GPS 11) speeds very close differing only by wind values.
Seems to be very accurate and quite a lot of fun to see max speeds on the Core after landing !
Very nice device!
( but don't connect the pitot with silicone tubing, use solid coloured Festo tube ! )
Core on 2.20 working perfectly.
