Diesel is dirty and mucks up the motors eventually. Not sure jet-a is much better. I guess I'm lucky, the local gas station sells K1 for under 6 bux a gallon too.
JET A is MUCH better. Its designed for gas turbines , been using it for years, last engine inspection, PST 1300 with about 30 hours on it, showed the engine, internally like new !

For me the x195 and the x240 are of interest, but until someone has the answers and has tested them at higher alts, not worth the risk.
What happened to the X120? How many hours on it?

Thx in advance

I've flown mine at 7000 feet on a hot summers day and yes, it ran just fine.
I run regular Kerosene with no problems

I’m at sea level more or less, considering an X195 for a 1/7.75 BVM F18.

You should, I have a SW 190 in my BVM F-18 and does a good job power wise, although spool up time to 100% power is a few few seconds, I wish it was quicker.

As for the X120, flame out, hot starts. He was using diesel and it seemed the turbine didn't like it.

I’m running Kero. I guess I’m lucky I have a station near by me that has it at the pump for the same price as diesel.

Have you tried changing the numbers on your 190 for spool up and down time? You should be able to get that 190 to spool up and down pretty quick depending on your alt.

Oh yes lol, but for higher alt and Swiwin there is a fine line between adjusting the values getting a flame out in the wrong moment especially with goarounds. I've seen it happen and it's never pretty.

Swiwin and Xicoy at sea level they have amazing spool up times, Xicoy seem to be quicker, most jet fliers will never understand that Colorado sitting at 5,500ft above sea level areas like it, when factor in density alt and higher temps your close 8000ft+ and that plays a huge factor on how these turbines preform, its day and night.
Same with any scale aircraft, sports jets are not effected too much but scale jets you got to be on the ball. That's why for me I have several delta wing jets for here, it's pitch and power for landings, scales jets your working it all the way to the runway, you got to be on it.

YOU CAN’T BEAT XICOY for thrust to weight. They are light and also very efficient, so fly longer on the same fuel or require less fuel (and associated weight) for a given amount of flight time. See the independent comparison tables in the back of any RCJI mag for the data. The difference between Xicoy and most other brands is significant.

I swapped out a X90 for a K70G4 in a foam L39 recently. I was surprised to find the smaller K70 used more fuel than the X90 for the same flight.
I like Xicoy turbines.

I thought about giving them a try as I have heard good things. I built a jet for a friend with a X60 in it and I was surprised at the size and how well it flew. However, no one has them in stock and when I call was told that it would be several months to get one at the best guess. Think I will keep what I have for now.
Thanks,
Tone

Exactly. Whatever their virtues, the Kxx turbines are often more thirsty than their counterparts, while the Xicoys pretty much stand alone at the efficient end of the spectrum regarding fuel burned / thrust produced.
