What do you guys use for a paint stand for the fuse, and more importantly, what do you use when spraying small pieces (like flaps etc) so you can paint the whole piece in one go??
Thanks
Tim.

I use Robart hinge points for all my flying surfaces. I drill the Hinge point holes then take a piece of welding rod of the correct dia, bend a loop in it. ( A coat hanger will do)Then I push one end in a hinge hole at one end of the "Flap/ Aileron/ rudder" and the other end of the wire in a hole at the opposite end of the surface. Be sure to have some tension on the "Spring" in the wire. Makes a nice handle to hold the part with while spraying and also adjusting the angle of the part so you can see the shine (or lack off).[8D]

I'm thinking about manufacturing paint stands similar to the ones that Tom Robertson used to sell. If you want to see it look where Todd said at BV's web site. I'll try to post pics of mine tomorrow. As far as I know, Tom has no plans to ever sell any of these stands again.[&o] I believe that Todd has one of these too----But he's so anal about getting paint on his that he masked his off!!!!

Funny Kev!
Actually, I am already in the process of reproducing Toms stands and will have them available for sale. Will be a few more weeks yet.... They will be available through my new website which is also coming together...

Todd,
Oh well---Ya beat me to it!!! You snooze-you loose!!!
Great minds think alike I guess...Good luck in your endeavor. They really are good stands, aren't they!!!!! My stand just has the adjustable feet---I was going to offer caster wheels with one end the locking type (brakes) as an option. Just food for thought when you make yours. I'm going to put wheels on mine in the near future.

I built several of those stands and have also built several additional fixtures for mine for holding wings etc... I had not thought about the casters but will add some to mine now.

I did not use the stand at all when I painted the Kingcat. I hung it with a piece of 3/4" conduit shoved through the forward wing tube. If I would have had time I would have built a fixture to hold the fuse then bolted it to one of my short pipes that mount in the stand. FWIW a piece of 3/4" galvanized rigid conduit (or sch 40 black pipe) fits perfectly through the top.

I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board on putting the KC on the stand.
Ran into a little problem with it.
Anyway, I did get the casters on the jet stand. Now just waiting for someone to come along and lean on it.
