Awards for:
Best Scale Jet: Dave Fusinato wit the AD Mirage 2000
Best Sport Jet: Joe McBride with the 3D Hot Spot
Best of Show: Jason Somes with the BVM Bobcat
Peoples Choice Duff Waldron with his Air Magic F-15
Pilot's Choice: More like CD's Choice. Tony Frackowiak and his four kids (Bobcat, Bandit, Mig and XB-47)
Special Recognition: Now with all the backstabbing and bull that goes on now and days this award was going to be given to the person who helped out other fellow Jet Jocks the most. Kind of like a good will ambassador to jets etc. Since we could not come up with a catchy name for it quickly it became the special recognition. Anyway, it went to Tony Fracowiak
Congrats to all.

Thanks Ralph, Ken and all the crews that made the event happen. Thanks Tony, Bob and Jason for all your help and checking out the airplanes. Tony, I need a test pilot for my new Mig15 Red bull and you are it. I'll let you know when it arrive and thanks in advance...

That was me! Nope, never got it started. Never even got it to ignite on the propane. Tried different Powermax bottles, checked the gas valve to make sure gas was coming out, put in three different glow plugs, tried running air through the gas line to the engine and could hear it hissing in the engine, and tried a different ECU. Never got a pop. I have no idea what's wrong with it. It was a real bummer since I worked on it the entire week before fixing it from a gear up landing at San Jose. I really wanted to fly it at Prado. Oh well! I feel bad for Yale who loaned me the engine. He only had three or four bench runs on it before this.
Daniel, just let me know when you're ready and I'll be happy to help.

Hi Tony,
It is possible the elec starter motor was drawing down the voltage and the glow plug was not getting enough to light. I once put a plug in the factory engine harness to fool the ecu and then lit the one in the motor with a reg glow driver from one of the prop boys.

Hi Vin,
Nope, that's not it. I removed the plug, installed it into the ground lug and connector cap, then hit run. It would light up immediately, but was only on for 1/2 a second or so. That made me think it was a bad ECU, so I switched to one Dave Fusinato loaned me. He said it had run fine on his engine, but still no joy with the MiG. I couldn't get it to pop a single time. Worked on it for about an hour and a half. We thought about doing the trick you mentioned, but at that time I'd run out of patience.
I had my other stuff to fly, so it wasn't like it ruined my weekend. But it was frustrating. Thankfully the P-120 in the Bandit and the 500 in the Bobcat started every time.
