Default Regulated Propane Valve

I've got a question for all you guys out there and want some feed back on this. If someone were to build a truly "REGULATED" propane control valve that screws onto the propane throwaway canisters and deliver a constant pressure "ALL" the time. Would you guys buy'em or not? The setup would deliver the same pressure the second the valve is opened as it would after continual use. This would not be a Needle Valve setup that would give a punch of pressure when first opened - then settle down to a desired pressure after flow has commenced. Thanks for the feedback.

What would I need it for? I simply use a little cheapy needle type valve with my TJT 3000s, and they start every time just fine. Do some engines require a regulated flow?

Default Some of the smaller turbines could benefit

It seems that some of the smaller class of turbines might benefit from such a setup.

I agree: That Coleman stuff can be a pain to get at times.
(and $$$$) I posted a vapor chart a while back to show what pressures are being worked on with pure propane.

Where can I get a coleman type valve here in Australia?. I have been to several camping shops and they all have the canisters but no valves. I thought of getting a small stove or lamp and modifying it to just use the valve. Any ideas??.
I have been starting my Wren with Butane, but I need to warm the canister slightly to get enough pressure. I can't do this at the field.

Bkf,

Thanks, I would like to get one as soon as possible. Warming the butane bottle is a real pain.

Default This isn't in reference to the Powermax

This is in reference to the straight propane ie: Bernzomatic propane, and yes, the Coleman propane - not the Powermax cartridges which are a different setup completely.

Yes but someone needs a valve for the Coleman tank.

I solved my problem.!!! I got a coleman gas canister 70 butane/30 propane, and a small torch with the correct size fitting. I unscrewed the front of the torch and made a fitting to connect my gas pipe. Works perfectly and starts first time. The valve on the torch is easy to use.

You are right WM: Your needle valve is acting a bit like a regulator. 100% propane sits about twice the pressure of the mix. Propane's 200+ psi might starting popping lines. Im more interested in regulation for use with smoke and such but see no reason why it could not be used to start any turbine if it is controlled a bit. Even with the JC you fill the start tank up full and usually get a pop when starting.

BKF,
I found the torch in a camping shop in sydney. It is made in Italy by a company called Foker. part number 04001/A. it was A$20.
I just unscrewed the front of the torch and screwed the tubing into the small threaded hole.

festo makes an "inline" regulator with a guage. It has 4mm fittings on the in and the output side. If anyone is interested, I will post the part #

Thanks Tom: Now I see why I did not see one before. We normally use a tall skinny type of gas. They are both made by Coleman but work in slightly different ways. Ken

This weekend?? I found an able set of thumbs for trim. But it also looks like rain both days. Quinte is also out. The guys here decided not to go. We will be going to a local event. I THINK the field is big enough. I will have to scope it out. But again more rain. We are having a washout year as far as weather. Not uncommon in Roch. Mid 40's tonight. Hows is that for summer. I saw you could have drove east a couple of hours and seen 6" of snow.
