KXH,
You should be able to see it if you can see the others. The manual is a huge file and if you have slow internet that might be the problem. Also, if you have an older version of the Adobe PDF Reader than 4.0 that might be the reason. You can download the latest reader at www.adobe.com for free. Good luck.

Progress report:
I now have the wing finished except for shaping the wingtips.
The servo pro mounts are the cats meow! They make servo mounting quick. strong and easily replaceable. On to the tail feathers and then time for Ultracote! I have about 40 hours in the project to date. The directions are very detailed with lots of pictures. (real men don't read them) The wing structure and gear mounts look like they will take lots of abuse! I will post some pictures soon. I am still looking for suggestions for a color scheme!

Speaking of color schemes, does anyone have that three view of the DV8R? I see it's not on the PCM site anymore. Pat said mine was shipping today or tomorrow so I better get started with some covering ideas. It's amazing how long my projects can sit at the covering or painting stage LOL! Scale planes are so much easier.

Hey Shaun!
I hope you got your big box of wood and foam by now!
I have a couple nites work left on the tail feathers and I will be ready for covering operations. I expect the ultracote to arrive today or tomorrow. When I finish the tail feathers I will post some images of the project complete and ready for ultracote. I hope I can remember how to use ultracote as it has been years now since built a project that did not get glassed and painted. I plan to turn up some AC/DC tunes at attack it this weekend! I am still shooting to complete and test fly before the HEAT meet in Lake Wales June 5th. The kit has had almost everything needed for construction except some polyply for the wing servo covers and some scrap balsa to make farings for the leading edge of the wing to the fuse.
You can see these on the image of the DV8R on the PCM website but it is not addressed in the instruction manual yet. I found that everything built very straight and true with almost no adjustments to the parts. I did have to sand the wing saddle some for a perfect fit to the wing airfoil. It was fun to work wood again. It was more like building a piece of furniture!
Have fun,
Jay

DV8Rs,
Here are some images of my DV8R RTC although not quite like it came out of the box (smiley).
I will comence ultracote operations tonite to the tunes of AC/DC per factory recommendations.
I am still on course to complete the ultracote cloud prior to FIJR. Let the fun continue.

Oh man, I can hardly wait! Still no kit, but I'm hoping the postman will be headed my way soon. I had a door hanger today but it was for the lighting system. BTW, given the whole acdc thing I figure smoke and lights on the DV8R would be appropriate LOL! Anyhow, looks like you're doing a great job. I can't wait to see the covering job.

Hope I got the email right, '[email protected]'. I wasn't sure if there was something in front of it. If that's the case, let me know. Any pictures of your covering job yet?

Pat asked if I had any question to post them as it will help others during construction. So here goes... I went to install the FD1 balsa formers to the wing saddle area but they extend about 3/8" above the fuse in the front. This will change the wing incidence a fair bit so I was wondering which was correct, the fuse of the formers. I also noticed there's not WHP (wing hold down plate) in the kit and there's no mention of it in the parts list. That got me to thinking maybe this has something to do with WPa and WPb, which I have no idea how they are mounted lol! I know the idea is to prevent the wing from moving and alignment, but their installation escapes me. I can just cut a WHP from scrap, but a picture of how the WPA and WPB are mounted would be great! Oh ya, this jet is going to be very cool when it's done
Thanks,
Shaun Bell

Shaun,
I sanded the balsa wing doublers down to the plywood fuse sides at the same angle the the top of the wing hits it. If you are missing the wing hold down plate just cut one from a piece of 1/4 inch thick plywood. I will take a picture of mine tonite and post it tomorrow morning for you. I will measure the length of the plate for you also. The hold down plate is secured by the precut balsa triangle pieces. I will also send a picture of the flap servo and linkage.
All I need now to finish mine is some free time to work on it!

Have been thinking of taking the plunge on this kit since it came out. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is I really don't like the idea of monokoting the fuse. Is there anyway of filling in the lightening holes to completely fiberglass and paint the plane or would that be just way too much a pain in the *****?

Unlike the prototype (lightening holes in the center of the fuse) shown in the instructions, all the lightening holes are located in the tail booms. There's 8 to fill in so you might be better off going with the covering. I prefer paint for most my model as well, but for a rough field sport jet lightness wins over looks. Monokote and Utracote have some pretty cool colors... Just put the gun down and plug your iron in LOL.

Hi Shaun, I echo your comments, also had to guesstimate which way up the wing goes from looking at the root section.
Could also have used a little more detail for construction of the u/c mounts so I may have got things a little wrong in this area, perhaps Patrick could comment. 8 u/c anchor nuts were also missing.
On the whole though an excellent quick build kit which I am very much looking forward to flying. Any of you got any color shemes yet ?

Jay,
The pictures will be great, now if I could just find some 1/4 ply kicking around. I 'm getting low on scratch build supplies lol. Could you shoot a picture of how WPA and WPB are mounted? I just skinned the wings and fins so there's a little work ahead yet. BTW, how did you fins turn out with a 1/2" overhang? I found with the 1/16 sheeting, it was a little flimsy. I think I'm just going to trim most of it off as it shouldn't make too much difference. How's that color scheme coming? I was thinking of copying something from my old MavPro. This might actually look better with twin tails.
