Default Electronic fuel pump for K1

Here it is. The Facet / Purolator Electronic fuel pump P/N 12S
12 Volt
4 to 7 PSI
132 Liters / Min
Looks to have a self prime of ~12"
That could be taken care of with a one way fitting so the pump never gets empty. The Barb fittings are standard 1/8" NPT but the barbs are a bit large. New fittings should be easy to get. It sounds like a very fast woodpecker but not bad. Ill post a review as soon as I can. I payed $29 at an Advantage Auto Parts store and they sell online. At this place they can be gotten for $20.50

See Woketman: I told you I would find it in the low $20 price range. Glad to be of help.

BTW the last picture I THINK? is an exploded diagram of one. Best I could find. Ken

That thing to the right of the pump is a fuel filter made by Daryll Usher. Uses a standard car fuel filter. Thought I would give one a try.

Default Purolator Pump

I've been using one of these for my gas giants for about 4 years. Great pumps, but rather slow compared to the new pump that Bob Wilcox sells. It takes about 4 minutes to fill my 50 oz gas tank from empty, which would be 9-10 minutes to fill my 120 oz in my F-15. Not too bad, but my current Wilcox pump does it in 4 minutes. The fastest pump is still the Kavan, but the persistent leaks were intolerable.

Ordinarily that slower speed is no problem, but if you are at a fly-in and have a busy pin freq, when you try to cram in 2 or 3 consecutive flights, those minutes add up big time.

I would be interested to see how fast it really pumps kero. I've never tried mine with kero. That spec of 137 l/min cannot be correct in the real world using our tubing.

Ken,
have basically the same thing on my back-up can for about a year now. They work fine and pump fast. Just prefer Jersey Modeler can since it is wireless and more convienient.

Yes sir gentlemen: The Usrcjc jet list showed some intrest in this pump so I took it upon myself to look into it. I in no way say this is better then any other pump. I am only providing that requested information. Thanks K

Tom I just hooked it up in the bathroom sink using water. I connected the battery and now have a very wet ceiling. It went everywhere. I agree with you. The provided fittings have an ID of .250, but if was funny as heck

Default Solenoid type pumps

Just a freindly reminder that this pump is a solenoid type action and the SMALLEST particle of dirt that enters it will cause it to STOP.

I have had a LOT of experiance with this type pump.

The key here is to insure that the PUMP INLET is filtered and you will be fine for the long haul.

I do however have to agree with Todd in that I had used this exact pump since 1995 but when I received my "Jersey Modler Can", it has become my fueling system of choice.

Default Purolator Pump

Have they changed the circuitry so you can reverse the pump to de-fuel with a DPDT switch? On the one I am using for gas, it will not run with the plus/minus leads swapped, so I have to remove the intake and output lines to de-fuel---always been an irritation.

Tom: I don't know if it can be reversed but my gut feeling is no. A three way valve could do it.

John I just captured the movie to a memory module on the camera then sent it to my webspace using FTP.
It was also using the worst capture mode that gives mort time in less space at the cost of picture quality. In normal mode it is as clear as a bell.
