Hi,
I recently got a used BVM F-80, and have had the first unsuccessful flight...
No big damage to the plane - only minor repairs needed.
The plane stalled and flipped right after takeoff, and I suspect heavy up-elevator to be the reason.
I have a lot of papers on the plane, but nothing about flight-settings.
The previous owner has never flown the plane.
Can anyone help me....???
Any help or hint will be appreciated....!!!
CG is 1/4" before the screw fastening the wing.

Do you have the plans that show the c/g? Balance the model with the gear down and the tanks empty. It will probably need some nose weight. Take off flaps are about 10-12 degress down, This is about half flap i think. Landing flaps is full flaps around 30 degress down. If you need more let me know I can pull the plans out or the manual.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for your input.
The model is balanced as you describe above, so this should be ok.
The model was tested without flaps, and I was told on RCGroups.com today, that the control throw should be 10-15 degrees - and flaps as you describe.
Actually the flaps can go to almost 90 deg.
Cheers

Scott,
Do you have information on the control throws??
Also I'll like to see the drawing and manual, if you have this in digital format.

Kim,
The elevators and ailerons are set at 3/4" per the plans, The rudder is 1" per plans. Bvm also had a gauge that helped you set the flap and speed board settings. I have no way of scanning plans or manual at this time. You can call BVM and talk to Patty I'm sure she can help with these.

Thanks, I think the throws was about what you mention in flight... must check.
Maybe I should call Patty, now she's back in the still standing office after "Francis" has passed...
