No doubt this has already been asked so appologies if im going back thru history but does the Rookie / Harpoon require a small amount of up elevon like the Roo 2 or do you use the vector pipe to trim with level elevons

MAT,

im not using the vector at all, i just made it level. its better if u disable it to start with. Do not try to mix it with the elevons. i saw 3 crashes already on landing when they mixed the vector with the elevons. its very simple, make the nose little heavy so it doesnt bounce on landing.

Mat,

Set the pipe level and you may need a very small amount of up in the elevons. It took a few flights before I found the best setup between the two. You may need to put a very small amount of down in the pipe if the plane climbs at high power settings. Set the CG right where they say it is perfect there. SLOW the plane down on final and it won't bounce.

If you have DSL then here's a 14Mb video of my first solo flight - (about 5 minutes). Includes take-off and landing from grass, which with the Spring Air 700 series, wire legs and cheap Robart plastic wheels it handles it well. Rest of the flight is really just a bunch of low passes to allow the camera to get a good shot.

Please excuse the indiscriminate use of the Pink Floyd soundtrack (One of These Days) which gets a bit monotonous - tried to break it up with a bit of Prodigy (Minefields) towards the end. I just slapped this together real quick with Windows Movie Maker. Anyway, as you can see performance is more than adequte with the Jetcat P60.
