RE: Lets see your scale F-15 !!
My buddy Joey is just about finished with my YA F15.Shes a beauty and will be getting full scale detail right down to Bullpup missles ,drop tanks & Sidewinders. The Gatlin gun & exhaust nozzles are what really set this bird apart from other F15's out there!! We will get pics of mine posted on here very soon as the paint should be layed in about another week & a half .I'm going with the base classic Ghost Gray F15 scheme but adding a little different touch with light blue camo in place of the typical dark gray.I saw a few pics around of this combo & I really love it as it's very different.Power will a Jetcat P120 with Tams pipe

Steve Thanks for the update I wasn't sure if it was Air Magic or Air Champs.
The fellow asking about the E model the primary difference is air to ground. It's now designated as an all weather attack aircraft.
More payload
Conformal side tanks on fuselage look closely
Rear has 4 CRTs for ground attack and flight instruments.
This web site will answer any question on the E model.

Mods:

-operational nav lights (remotely controlled)
-Nauwa cockpit
-INTAIRCO scissors added to struts (not shown in these photos but highly recommended, very well engineered)
-scale-like gear doors
-internalised elevator pivot mechanisms and control arms
-Simjet 3000 for power
-JR 10x control
Lots of finishing and scale detailing yet to do....practicing on another model at the moment! Suggestions welcomed though!

Hi Frank,
About 11kgs all up. Caries 4.8l of fuel and can take off from grass no probs. Extra weight invloved with lighting system, rudder installation and re-engineered tailpivot mechanisms and turkey feathers. Interesting to note that main receiver batteries still needed to be located behind the c of g so the extra weight in the tail would have been needed one way or another to balance her! Might as well make it look good in the process rather than slapping a chunk of lead in there.
Philip said that most of the eagles come out nose heavy so I wasn't too worried about weight in the tail.

Craig B,
Thats a great light system. I would be interested in how you did that. It might be to late for me now as mine is being painted now. But for future references. Also did you make your pitot tubes, I need to get some of those....
Thanks,
David

RE: Lets see your scale F-15 !!
Hi David,
The lighting system has two RAM lighting systems that I bought from tower hobbies, one for each half of the model. The lenses were made from dental acrylic (the same stuff that we make kids orthodontic plates from) I found that if we made the lenses from solid coloured acrylic that they looked better but you could just use the plastic from which canopies are made and tint/paint it. The lights are operable by a servo operated microswitch. Lenses were made by first creating the recess in the wing and lining it with circuit board material for smooth finish. I then took and mould using silicone impression putty and poured up these in plaster to replicate the wing recess. A friend who is a dental tech then made the lenses for me. I did change some of the LEDs to obtain the scale colours in their correct positions.
I decided to install after primer( great timing!....NOT) I routed the wiring up the fins with a heated piano wire ground to an arrow head tip. The wings were a little more challening because of the undercamber and the washout but I got there by going in at both ends to join the two tunnels. leads attached via jr charging jacks at the wing root....very easy to connect and disconnect at the field.
I have since obtained some sun-viz lights from INTAIRCO (original product from electrodynamics in the US) and they look very promising.
The pitot probes were made from circuit board (2x1.3mm layers laminated with zap...very high tech!...then sanded to shape) I used photos to get the correct shape/position but I made them longer so they inserted through the fuselage skin....a slot was cut in the fuse...and the position of the probe was stabilised using 2 pins running through the inboard part of the pitot probe ...this made gluin from the inside very easy and created a strong joint. I thought that anything glued to the surface of the fuse would break off very quickly. The probes really add to the realism of the model I think.....interesting that you noticed them. If you want any pics let me know.
