Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I go to a event in a small grass field club today with the R54, but I also take that one with me to remind people you don't need a jet engine to go fast ( very fast............)
I don't find any reference of it on RCU, so I introduce it. That's the weston velocity. A upgrade version of the weston tigershark, fit with a west 52 V2

those planes were dealing with the mithic 200 Mph barrier ( assuming they have good engines like a dub jett engine or a west engine)
The shrike is also a conventional airplane, the one I show on the pic above is a delta wing ( no stab, only elevons)

Final fitting of ailerons and flaps, I'm testing the Tamjets flap hinges that were give to me by a friend he has them in his Reaction and wanted my Reaction to have them too, I like how they deploy the flaps giving more than enoug down travel, also my elevator is a bit twisted, I have it pinned down on the bench and I'm spraying glass cleaner since it has ammonia it will help un-twist it, the hinges go in easier by cutting the corners.

I taped the ailerons and flaps togather and to the wing tip, and the wing root tip, once it all was lined up and against the wing I lined up the hinge screw with the flap bottom leading edge and marked the spot where they go in and drilled it with a rotary tool with a fine cutting tip.
yep! Old Tamjet hinges.

Those hinges are cool, I made a preorder for a R54 coming from the next batch. That one will be for a fellow, but I will certainly be on the scene during building. I will suggest those hinges with some other mods coming from my feedback with mine.

did you consider make a flat wing trailing edge and a flat flaps leading edge to reduce the gap betwwen flaps and wing when extended ? I don't think you need to increase energy in the flap boundary layer on this wing.
This opinion valid only regarding the R54 kit fit with hinges that doesn't have the pivot point in the center of the trailing edge
the kit hinges have the pivot point in center of the traling edge, no gap.......
the slot or "gap" you create with those hinges has two effect, it increase lift and reduce drag. Assuming the R54 need drag, but doesn't really need extra lift my opinion it's it could be a good idea to keep the slot minimal
( hope you understand what I try to say with my poor english

I take the oportunity of this dialog around sickness to make an update about what I wrotte some post earlier about issues with the kero start option of the P60. I switched my R54 to gas start convinced I would have more reliable starts. It was not the case.. I had still difficulties to start the P60. Some fellows from belgium used to this turbine, checked my setup deeply and we arrived to conclusion, I should have a deffective ECU or turbine electronic componennts issue. I took the oportunity of a big rc event not very far away from my home to visit the jetcat stand with my R54 fuselage and showed my setup.
They made some test and the first diagnostic is a faultly RPM sensor giving somethime, but not always erratic rpm data. My turbine is in germany for warranty repair.
I have been lucky to not suffer a flameout in flight.
So you may consider my first opinion about the P60 kero start option to be a wrong info
Flight continues, A fellow me has a P60 laying and we will temporarly place it on my plane

I consider this engine to be just fine for the R54, if you watch the short video I posted earlier showing my third flight, the evolution you see are made with throttle stick just below 50 procent.. Ok, my R54 turned out "abnormaly" light, but this can give you an idea of how the airplane fly with that engine
