Default HELP Replacing BVM tires

I need some quick help here. I am trying to replace my 2.25" tires on my BVM wheels/brakes. How do I get the new tire onto the rim?

Thanks,

Mark

Default HELP Replacing BVM tires

I droped the new tyres into water that had just boiled to soften them up and used a bit of washing up liquid to ease then on. seemed to work fine for me.

Mark,
cut the old tire off, soap up the new one good with dish soap. Place the rim on a wood block, lay the tire over the rim and stomp it with the heel of your foot....

Mark,

Take a solution of soapy water and wet everything down real good. Next, place the tire/rim combo on a peice of ply and place another peice of wood on top of it. Take a big leap in the air and stomp on the wood real hard!!! The tire should snap onto the rim. No kidding!!! Kevin

Default tires

I use an old spinner, soap it up and you can just push it on with your hands

If you can's stomp hard enough you can place the tire and wheel between two pieces of wood and use C-clamps or a vice to apply pressure to the whole assembly. The tire will usually slip over the rim without any trouble. A soapy solution for lubrication seems to help as well.

Ghost Rider,

Some tires need more "convincing" than others. The smaller they are---the harder to get them on. Todd may weigh more than I do, besides, the jumping part makes the whole process fun!!! GEEZ, I need to get a life?!? Kevin

I was in my office when I read you post this afternoon, and I laughed out so loud that my co-workers thought I was beginning to loose my mind. You got me on this one my friend.

Also on the subject of tires. I have a sport jet that needs tires but I do not want to spend $75 on them. What options do I have? Also, if they come assembled should I stomp on them for good measure????

Default Doin' the Polka and Cloggin' on the tires-----

Mike

All of the factory new tires come pre-stomped at the factory! Seriously, we are talking about replacing the tires on a BVM wheel for example. Some of them can be rather stubborn to get on the rim, especially the smaller sizes. The factory new wheels/tires are good to go from the factory. With the BVM combo the only thing that you must do after you get them is to install the rim screws. These screws look good (a little more scale appearing) and keep the tire from slipping on the rim under hard braking. Kevin

I usually kick mine just before starting my engine. Just to make sure they are not flat. Stomping them before flight can some times lead to flats spots and irregular braking........ LOL sorry I could not resist.
