central texas jet rally update
we are rapidly approaching the 16th annual central texas jet rally april 29th, 30th and may 1st. i wanted to post an update on some recent activity.
firstly and best of all, the access road to the site will be completely redone this week!
also for those who might be bringing so's, the pecan street festival on 6th street is the same weekend. we will work out some maps and info for the arts and crafts festival.
other than that we are still fattening up the herd for the fajitas and steak. please let me know if you have any questions.
flyer available at www.austinrc.org
accomodations can be booked through dawn at midway travel. [email protected]

there also is a holiday inn express at 183 and i-35.. might be the same one bob-o is referring to. and then the one on town lake downtown. if you (or anyone) ends us staying downtown, let me know and i can give you alternate directions to the field and a few pub suggestions.
ronnie, if you are going to take in 6th street you might try one of the other listed hotels, they will put you a little closer.
also just realized that april 30th is the annual eeyore's birthday party... so if your so is feeling a little psychedelic...
more info on pecan street art fair and eeyore's birthday party at http://www.6street.com/

FYI
If anyone wants to start the process for the 2006 waiver renewal, there will be notary at the Austin event as well as most of the events in Texas this year. Renewal affidavits (AMA doc. 510E) will be available at the event. I know its early, you can keep the form with the 2005 waiver or in your transmitter case and hopefully still have it in December. Remember the 20 flight rule. A lot of flyers already have their flights in.

Kevin, I think a lot of people thought we had 500 feet before the ext. Throw 125 or rumor more and you're easily at 700. We used to drive up to waco to test fly, but now we're test flying here with no concern (although this is our home field and sometimes it's just easier to fly at your home field).
I don't have a lot of high wing loading time, so I probably wouldn't test fly a rhino or a F-104 here, but pretty much anything else, I wouldn't hesitate, hope that helps make up your mind.
