Canopy was a total write off.............as was the jet, new one is 3 lbs lighter, all composite.
problem was'nt keeping the canopy in one piece.........................but the pilots heads on. [8D]

Looking at three possible locations right now Joe for both jets, including one offshore....................yea, I've got a better idea. Might want to have your deck gear ready.......................stand by for dates.
Grandpa says "Hello." He told me........."hurry up, I don't have all year for you to keep building the same jet over and over again!"
He's doing great.............and up to the usual.

Fantastic work Bryce. It is unfortunate that Futaba didn't step up to the plate and provide support. Looking some of the pictures of you as a kid it looks like we got started about the same time. Looking at you accomplishments I feel pretty inferior. Great work and amazing attention to detail. Belated condolences on the loss of your father. Hope to meet you some day.

Today is September 22, 2006 ............................The Official Retirement date of what is sure to go down as one of the greatest fighters ever built.

Now it is also just about 6 months to the day from my last post above..................(this is quickly becoming a bi-annual thread........I'll try to get back on here more often with updates as we go here.)
Now I had planned to give a bunch of pics and short story on Tomcat #2...............but to be quite honest.......It's not quite ready to the level that I want yet, so I'm holding off a shy bit longer, as promised I will unveil the bird shortly. This time it has been quite a bit more of a challenge for me to expand upon the first one, but thankfully due to continuing advances in technology ie Weatronics, Duralites.....etc. I was able to have just about everything I could dream up functional and still keep the weight limit down to a reasonable wingloading with stable flight characteristics in all regimes..................................So I apologize for the delay but, please stay tuned...........it'll be worth the wait.

Now.....................I promised a bunch of people that I would break my silence (and subsequent unavailability for most of the past year) and come on here in September with a bit of a "what's been going on in the world of Bryce"
So here we go.......I guess I'll start with grandpa (who's doing good)
About a year ago I returned from overseas to a bit of drama....................now without rehashing, I'll just say that after spending a couple days back unwinding, I decided to take a trip over to Grandpa's....(he actually really did come on here to follow the stories) the first thing he did when he opened the door was shake his head and he said............"guess some things never change huh?" then he put out his hand and gave me a firm handshake and said "Well I'm proud of what you did." Now I did'nt need grandpa to tell me that, but it was nice to hear.
After a brief conversation..........grandpa says, "Hey how much does it cost for you to build one of those jets?" I said, "dunno maybe 7 or 8 grand if your doing something basic." So then he says..............so, how long until you finish the second one." My honest reply was "It takes me 8 to 10 months to build a scale anything.............so it's going to be a while." (you scale guys know what I'm talking about.............freakin takes FOREVER)
Anyhow.....................He then says..............."Tell you what, I've been thinking about something......but I'm not gonna tell you what it is...........just go ahead and build another one as quick as you can and I'll take care of the rest." Now I thought he was joking, so as I left his house, he said, "remember............get building, times ticking." So I laughed and said.........."Do I get a bonus If I build two?" and he said............."Yes Sir............two it is.............YOU HAVE ONE YEAR." And that was the last we spoke about his so called challenge.
Then one day a few months later I went over to his house and caught him up to something...............HUH?

Now the fullscale F-14 Squadrons have all transitioned to the FA-18E/F Superhornets, so it was only natural that I would follow suit with the second project,

Bryce, can I ask you where you bought your F-14 tomcat. Its a jet that I am seriously interested in and wish to be able to buy one, but here in Japan, I have found no place that i can so far. Do you have any sites and or info that you might wish to pass on to me. Thanks again, and congrades on one of the best jets I ahve ever seen on that scale.
BTW, its just the 1/10 scale turbine jet that I was interested in, thanks again.
You are also VERY lucky to have someone to whom would do so much for you and give so much...very lucky. He seems like a very great grandpa and he also seems very proud of you as well, and he should.

Curtis, I’m not sure if you realize, but Bryce really accomplished something here !! He won FIRST PLACE in the Extreme Scale Jet Masters !!! thats not just the JetMasters ! it’s the EXTREME Scale Jet Masters .. dude, how many people in this hobby are there that have an accomplishment of this magnitude under their belt …. Something you will likely never attain to with your wana be jet foamies !!!
