Do the JR DS8611's fit in the openings on the BVM F-100, or will I have to use 8411.
I haven't received my kit yet and want to get servos ordered. I also don't want to have to butcher up anything to make them fit.
Thanks

With respect, the cases are not the same size.
Having said that, I do not know if an 8611 will fit into any specific mount, that obviously depends on the mount.
The size difference is small, but as I remember I had to open the mounts up slighty on a Bandit to make them fit.
I think the word "butcher" is very strong :-)

Scott,
According to the JR home page specs, the 8611A measures 1.56H X 1.5W X .82L. The 8411 is 1.36H X .75W X 1.54L.
You can verify this by going to: http://www.jrradios.com/Content/PDF/ServoChart.PDF

Those dimension on that .pdf file are incorrect.......
Here the real deal...8611 on the right.....I have tried to photo in 3 dimensions without parallax.....the 8611 is slightly larger in all dimensions....when trying to retrofit 8611's into 8411 perfectly drilled mounts, you will have to relieve the longitudinal dimension a bit.....only problem is that the original screw holes can get very close to the opening....
As far as the F-100, best chat with BV.......not much room for the hatch cover for the side-mounted aileron servos and bottom fuse for the elevator servos......non-digital 2721's, same size as 8411 recommended for flaps and mounting box comes pre-drilled for that size as do the stab mounts....rudder servo would be no problem, nor would nose-gear.....slats, of course, don't use the big servos anyway....
Starting from new should be less of a problem cuz you could cut new mounts with proper size opening and mounting screw locations rather than cobbling up the one the comes pre-cut with the kit....

Scott,
You will have to do some mods to the elevator servo mounts to get the 8611s to fit. 8611s will not fit in the aileron either. I used 2721s recommended to me by Baggs.

I know!
I hate it when some idiot who only got 8th at Top Gun on his first try chimes in on what he used.

Hitec HS-81s will fit perfect in that plane, and you can just wrap them in masking tape and CA them right into the mounts.

Love the post about the 8411's and 8611's having the same case.[sm=bananahead.gif]
I am rigging a Hun out right now for a guy and have fitted the 8611's into the stab mounts. It does take some more work, but I believe well worth it if you have the time. As Scotty said, the stab ain't going anywhere with the 8411's on it either.
8411's are on the aileron's as well as on the rudder. You could throw an 8611 on the rudder but it would definitely be overkill.

Glad you enjoyed it John. Sorry I did not have my micrometer out when I made the post, but I have interchanged those servos without changing or modifying the mounts. I realize that the 8611 is taller but the other dimensions are that close that I have not had to make changes.

I have installed 8611's in the F-100F I'm building for someone as well. In addition, I've fitted HD metal arms on the servos which required ball link connections. The ball links in turn, required that the servos be moved further apart to keep the two arms from touching. It was a bit of fiddling, but it went in OK - definately not a "butcher" job, just a little shaving here, a little extra ply doubler there...

Regarding the servos required for the F-100. My F-100 is rigged as per BVM servo list. The servos are more than adequate. Putting 8611s on the ailerons is like putting short block V8 on your lawn mower. It will cut the grass just fine but people will wonder why your mower can hover. Then you will spend countless hours trying to make them fit.
8611s on the stabs is fine you will have to mod the install. They will not fit in the servo tray with out taking out some plywood. The easiest way is to cut the top facing side of the servo tray, making a "U". Then elongate one end and they will slide right in. You will need a matchbox with the stabs they are mucher tighter than the 8411s. Don't need digitals on the rudder or flaps. I have rigged a couple F-100s since completing my own. I actually rigged one over the phone. It was like taking a retard to Disneyland but we got it done.
