I did one wing last night with the EZ air... Haven't had a chance to test it yet for leaks... My question is, should they be rigidly mounted? In looking at them, it seems like it might be a good idea for them to be passively mounted... My concern is that when the wing is under load, its gonna flex and air will leak... I mounted the female side to the fuse via a plywood plate and aeropoxy... Male ends are in wing with just a drop of ca...... Will glue permanently once I find out the answer to my question. I know I have them lined up exactly, with no side load on them whatsoever.... Not sure that will be the case in flight or going over a bumpy grass field.......


Any ideas???

You didn't mention what airplane you are installing them in, but if they are in a BVM jet, and installed in "as designed" position, just mount them as indicated in the plans. After you push them through the laser cut holes in the wing mounting plate, just hook up the air hoses. They are a tight fit, and they do not need to be glued to the plate with aeropoxy or CA. After the wing installation is completed, aeropoxy the fuselage EZ-Air mounting plate with the mating fittings installed after bolting the wing into place. Aeropoxy it into place and allow it to cure.
The fittings are installed in the wing root where very little flexing will occur. The O-ring will seal them adequately.
If they were passivly mounted, the 100+ PSI in the tanks might cause them to leak.

Harley, Its for a Eurosport... You answered my question perfectly...thank you... I have no idea what kind of forces are exerted on the wing near the root... I even thought about putting another bolt on the leading edge of the wing where the guide pin is..... it has two fiberglass rods, a guide pin, and a big bolt inbetween the two rods..... but I think it would match up to the fuse better with two points drawing it in..... we'll see.....

All those Starfires of mine have those EZ-air deals installed, rigidly, with no leaks or issues.

Ridgedly mounted in my BVM F86 too, and no leaks, sure makes assembly/deassembly easy.

I've even taken to doing the same thing with the servo leads on all my planes. The wings are a literal 'plug-n-play' affair...
