A buddy of mine at work showed me this picture and asked me what jet it was. I told him I had no idea and that I would post it here. Does anyone know?

I believe it is a modified T-33 or p-80 with two Turbofan motors that a Aviation company was trying to do a low cost jet trainer for the US Air Force. Maybe some one can add more ifo or correct mine. I believe I saw it at Mojave sometime back, 80's or early 90's.????

Yeah G4Guy, your picture is a Saab Lansen. I found another picture of a Lansen and they are definately different from what my picture is:

The link you gave shows the same plane as in post #3, including the same registration number. The plane in post 3 is a SAAB Llansen.

It's a Boeing Skyfox conversion of the T-33, designed, as described above, as a low cost trainer. Skyfox bought approximately 80 airframes for conversion, but only one was ever converted and flew. The original Alison engine was replaced by two Garrett TFE371-3A turbofans. Boeing bought Skyfox and the plane was tested but the program failed to produced any orders.

I agree with G4 Guy.

Basically Lockheed tried to re use the T33 airframe by building a low cost trainer based on the wing as much as anything I think, as he said with the two engines at the back. It didn't sell and was dropped, but I remember coming across this when researching my T33 but can't remember where!!!

Skyfox is correct. One of my old T-33 squadron mates got to fly it.....said it was lots of fun!

Seriously, while I am thinking about it, anybody interested in doing a turbine Lansen?

It is one of two fuses made from the mold in Sweden, the other one is flying with turbine. Spans about 60", I think, I have two fuse halves, wing cores, stab cores already sheeted, and a canopy. No plans. $250 if somebody wants to come pick it up. If I have to ship it, I won't sell it, not worth the hassle to me. Cost me some $600 with shipping from Sweden, another purchase I just HAD to have...

The aircraft in question is a Boeing Skyfox it used a T-33 airframe there was only one ever built. The design if I remember correctly was by Flight Concepts however Boeing bought the concept. It's target market was to be small countries who needed a low cost jet trainer, I hope this helps.

It is called the Skyfox, a retrofit to make a small COIN aircraft I think
