RE: Hotspot Horns
Hi
Here is a blurd picture that took with my mobile just now of the horns on my hotspot. They are the ones that came with the kit just like the ones on your picture. My hotspot is powered by a NON derated Jetcat P-160 and I regurarly go over 400 km/h. I have a pitot probe on it and also it has been cought with a police radar gun. Its been flying like this for three years without any trouble whatsoever concerning the horns. They are well up for the job.

RE: Hotspot Horns
At St. George Jet Rally several years ago I had the LG switch inadvertantly hit while the servos were energized which caused the Hotspot to lay down on the right wing. The right main gear collapse caused both horns to snap off. I've also broken one accidently when handling the wing in/out of the car. I now use a long countersunk screw through the top of the elevons and through the dowel with no problems.

I'm with Tom on this one...
Mine didn't come with the hardware shown above, bought back in 2001. I found the centre on a mill (overkill but what the heck...), then bonded in a 3/8" dowel (before glassing with 2 oz cloth) with a 6-32 thread in the centre. I threaded a button head screw in from the top with a nylock nut on the bottom surface, then a clevis fitting and 4-40 hardware. That was the best solution I could come up with since it throws the load directly into the top and bottom skins and doesn't rely on any fasteners or threads not pulling out under high load. Its brutally strong... [sm=punching.gif]
So far its been up to around 240mph, no signs of weakness yet. Planning to go much faster this year, on ~30lb of thrust!

RE: Hotspot Horns
I used 2 heavy duty T-style du-bro horns, trimmed down a little and and 4-40 clevises per wing , screwed into a 6mm plywood base in the glassed elevon. This worked well up to 420 mph.
