Does anyone have any info on a proposed release date for the Spread Spektrum radios for gas aircraft. Rumor here is late fall early winter 2006, but we are not sure????

With the current regs here in the US I'll go out on a limb and say not for another five years. Unless people are willing to mount multiple antennas and receivers in the wing tips and fore and aft it won't be reliable enough to sell. From a marketing standpoint I bet the manufacturers feel that is a big hurdle to overcome.
Some people will go ahead and use the current system on glow planes and claim that it is perfectly fine and what's the big deal. For the folks in this forum to do the same will only speed up the regulating and possible demise at some venues for your chosen aircraft.

Does anyone think that Horizon started out to design a park flyer system? If it had the range to use in larger planes don't you think they would have marketed it that way? A few very unscientific tests of the range of the system only shows us that it isn't reliable at greater distance than recomended. If it was indeed at 4000 feet without any obstructions and lost range that tells me that it is nowhere near the range of the 72mhz stuff. I havn't heard of any of the glider guys say they went into failsafe at those distances.
The restrictions on power output at the higher frequencies makes SS a very tough nut to crack.
BTW ET, those Casio Altimeter watches were not very accurate at all.

Firtst of all, HORIZON didn't design the DS6, they just sell it. But let's just say they did..... or for that matter, lets's say JR designed it. Do you think that JR would have a better return from the 10X or the DS6? Just to help you a bit with the answer, Castle Creations sells in excess of 15000 speed controls A MONTH!!

If you think DB has a finger on the pulse of cutting edge technology than please explain why his flight simulator is so outdated, or for that matter his views on Lipos in his editorial column.

Wow! No insurance if you use this radio in a larger airframe? How about the guy who builds an Ultra Stick and puts miniture servos in it? Is he covered? Or the guy who flys a jet with a Tower 4 Channel? Or like so of the guys I know fly 1/4 scale with outdated radio gear. It really is going to be a mess. Bob
