I somehow misplaced at the field on a bad landing the brake hub to what I thought was a BVM Wheel. When I call BVM, they say their 3" wheel has a brake assmbly that fits over a 3/8" strut, not a 1/2" strut. To get a half inch strut, you have to go to the kingcat size wheel. But I looked at my kingcat, and it is too large a brake assembly. Can someone help me identify what I have so I can get another brake assembly?

Sean

If I remember right, I used the same setup on my Roo. They are the BVM 3" wheels and brakes. The hub has to be modified to fit the Robart 1/2" strut.

Look carefully at the first picture.

There is no modification on the existing one whatsoever.

I already went back to the field to try to find the lost part, but no luck!

Anyone?

With further conversation with BVM, we found the problem!

Apparently for a short duration, BVM was making a special brake hub for Kanak, called the "Kangaroo Brake Hub"!

They had not sold one in quite some time, and forgotten about them.

Now I know the rest of the story, and you do too!

Sean,

when I bought mine Kanak was out of them. I modified the stock BVM unit.

Bob, if you do, I'll buy it from you as a spare.

Gary, did you dremel out the hub and not bench grind the strut?

Sean,

I did not modify the strut. I used various dremel bits to modify the hub. Lots of trial fitting until the hubs seated all of the way.

Gary, FYI you can bench grind the strut in about 5 minutes and make it fit.

Sean, the ones I have are 3/8 also. I found the struts and I did bench grind them. Bob

It takes about 1 minute ,on a Bridgeport, to mill out the hub to .510. Thats how I modified mine. and you cant 't tell 'em from stock.
