Hi everyone.

I recently bought a Graupner Harpoon and a P70 and the necessary equipment and am about to start the build. Before I go ahead, I thought I'd see if anyone has any guidance or points I should note about the build or the model in general. I don't want to go steaming ahead and b*lls something up and the instructions are a little vague in places. I have tried searching the forums but can find very little about the Harpoon. Also, is the airbrake absolutely necessary or can it be left out of the build, and the model still slow up ok?

.. Eggy.. what are you, or were you planning to put in it gear wise, retracts, Oleo's, wheels, Servo's ( 4 per wing .. ) isolator.. batt packs, blah, blah, blah ... i have been through all the past threads and think i now have every single item ready to start ... i bought some stuff , but then found ou there were better options available...The only item i am missing now is a big industrial sized box of Time..

Dave, I am in exactly the same position as you! Time is needed more than anything. I have gone with four servos on the wings, I figured it may give me some redundancy, although whether one servo can fail and the model still fly... who knows, but it'll help put my mind at rest!

I bought the full set of Eurokit retracts for about £300 which come with the full air set and brakes installed. I have been told they're fine but the quality leaves a lot to be desired in my eyes. For example, with the noseleg down and 'locked', if I pull on the strut hard enough, it will still fold. Have you had any experience or feedback on these items? I don't think it's too late to return them. Also, the bearings are dreadful, the two main wheels have differing levels of friction... should be interesting!

I am still stumped on the receiver choice. I use a 14MZ and 5014 RX generally, but everything I am reading recently is making me think I should just use a 9ch PCM receiver. My first turbine model and I really don't want a glitch! Do you think it's worth using dual receivers?

Battery packs I was going to decide on when the model is built, in order to balance it.

Yup ...Sandors Retracts /Oleos are great...... but you will have to make a couple of spacers to lengthen the mains slightly ...and one a bit longer to lengthen the front leg...

mm dont now what you did , but they fit as they are delivered witout altering anything....
on the pictures you can see our new optional "de luxe" front oleo with a very light spring.
on the other picture there is also a new frontwheel.

as you can see it has a small upwards setting making very short take off possible.
fits right out of the box...

ok now i see what you did wrong
you have altered the pins to be shorter
i just noticed on the pciture there
you need to leave the pins to their lenght , if you make a very bad landing they will bend also . leaving the fuselage intact.
infact the eurokit bend allready just looking at them.........

.. Sandor ...i left the pins exactly the same length as when you sent them ... very nice pins they are too...... with flats on ..but i made a spacer to go over the pins the same dia as the top of the Oleo ... BUT the middle section of the spacer has 2mm clearence round the pin so the pin can bend.. the middle outer wall section of the spacer is quite thin..

I made some spacers also, mine are plastic, mostly just for looks, to fill the small gap. but as previously stated and I agree -the gap is there for a reason. the digitech gear are incredibly excellent , 50 flts on mine, 0 problems and 0 bent pins. I also went with the heavier nose leg for my rookie 2, due to a lot of weight on mine, and my past experience with bad landings and the damage they can cause. but this gear set is bullet proof and the stock rookie nose leg would have probably done fine for me.. imo-DIGITECH is the best gear set availlable on the planet, superb products Sandor!and this is not a shill but a compliment and an honest recomendation of some great equipment.

Ive just fitted a pair of Sandors mains & nose leg onto my rookie 2.
They fitted perfect and the pins come with the flats already machined.
Quality of these components are second to none.
