RE: Fuel cans, jugs, containers, station, etc..
There is already a thread on this out there somewhere. People have made a can similar to jersey modelers. I bought one from jersey modeler and love it. Well worth the money in my opinion. Its good looking and clean install and I didnt have to spend the time to make it best of all.

I resisted buying one for a long while. I bought several cans, pumps, switches and batteries and built several home brew fuelers, and then I decided to buy a Jersey Modeler. I know wonder why I wasted some much time on the other systems. I my opinion the Jersey modeler is well worth the money and I think you will love it.

How about a link for the Abbell RC fueler? I agree John, really like my jersey modeler fueler and the screw on funnel is worth its weight in gold.

Here is my question:
What do you find to be a problem with the JM fuelling system?

I still think there's a better source out there though.
A link for the Abell would help.
Thanks.

Johnny this is the one I made.
ventless can from your favorite source
Fuel pump from Greylor or Todd
Batt box, switches and fuseholder from radioshak
I'm using a small 12v starter wand batt. for running the pump many guys use 9.6v for less air in the flow.
Hope this help!
Saludos

I bought this from Pep Boys Auto. Mounted the pump, and it holds 14 gallons. Love the wheels, I don't have to lift anymore.

I have had a Jersey Modeler fuel jug/pump setup as long as I have had a Turbine. Never had a problem with mine.
But, here is another very good reason to have a Jersey Modeler setup:
Jersey Modeler is a big, enthusiatic supporter of our jet events!!!
I will bet there are a lot of guys out there who have won a Jersey Modeler at an event at some time!

An alternative source for better jugs it to check out a good quality specialty house for , go karts, moto cross, snowmobiles, race cars, etc, Most all these venues at the competition level require batch mixing of fuels for race day. Given they use alcohol, nitro, or premium oil mixes with gas.

Dean is a great guy and an avid supporter of our hobby. Bought 3 jugs from him, outstanding quality, you get what you pay. Heard good things about the Abell also, looks about the same to me.

RE: Fuel cans, jugs, containers, station, etc..
I too have seen the jersey and abell fuelers and they're nice for sure, but I just don't have bundles of money to throw around. Besides, some of us just like to build things ourselves. I already have plenty of wire, connectors and a spare 2-series lipoly battery from an electric heli I sold. All I needed was a 5 gallon jug from Ace hardware for 9 dollars, a fuel filter from Checker that was $3.99 and the Greylor pump that all the comercial fuelers use cost $47.00 straight from Greylor. So I've spent $60.00 plus a little of my time and I have a nice 5 gallon fueler. There's nothing wrong with supporting manufacturers but when you look at a product and see the materials involved, it just doesn't justify the price tag on it. At least to Some of us. I've got more time at my disposal than money. Another point. Many of my club members come to the field with these elaborate and expensive field boxes with the nice oak finish and folding legs. Mine is a cardboard box with a few partitions installed that cost zero dollars and suits me just fine. You don't want to know what I use for a bubble trap device. No it's not a UAT. Suffice it to say it cost about $3.00 and works great at preventing air from getting to the pump/engine. Aint' America great; we have all these choices. I'm not trying to knock anybody or company just pointing out that there are many ways to skin a cat.

I love my JM. As far as jugs, I got the 5 gallon racing fuel jugs and matching aluminum racks from JEGS for the trailer. They can fill these at the airport very quickly due to the wide mouth in the racing jug. I'd upload a picture, but RCU is apparently broken for pics right now.

Just taken delivery of a new jersey fuel can. Looks pretty good. I like the recycling facility to connect to the over flow of the tank
Does anyone know if you can use a lipo battery in place of the recommended 8 cell NiMH battery?

No reason you could not use a (2 cell LiPo - a bit slower) or a (3 cell LiPo - a bit faster), I would NOT recharge the LiPo while it is attached to the can though
Actually a 2 cell would be better as I found that the pump when driven at 12 V (I have a home made unit with the identical pump with a 12 V gel cell) tends to expand the fuel tanks a bit and it would be better to slow it down a little

Thought you had to connect a battery to the terminal but now I realise that is the charge lead for a battery already built in. Just me being thick!!

I like the one from Sin City Jets. Chad has a variable speed control that keeps some of the tanks from overpressurizing and leaking. Some of our tanks are very light weight.
