Default SolidWorks Modeling Methods

Is there any body out there,

That can explain to me in some detail, how to get a SIDE view picture onto a plane, and also a TOP view picture. I have been able to get a picture inserted in to the work space, but every thing else is behind it.

Thank.

Dlae

Hi,

Start a sketch on whatever plane you need to. Then insert a sketch picture. Use the following menu: Tools -> Sketch Tools -> Sketch Picture

yes they usually overlap when all pictures/sketches are unsupressed or unhidden. what i have done is to draw lines at their extreme ends so i can size them all equally. from there, i toggle between hidden and unhidden depending on the view and side of the aircraft i am drawing in detail. using surface lofts also usually achieves finer blends than trying to create the model with solid lofts. u can then thicken the model to any sheeting you want. i am new to surfaces but i find the idea and work environment less rigid than using solid lofts with numerous control curves.

these fellows seem to be solidworks gurus....perhaps they'd be kind enough to drop u mail if the tutorials don't help ya. they have a beautiful f-15 model which u can use as an example:

Thank you all for the help.

I have another question for the men that know how.
If I open a new empty assy. drawing. How do I locate a part to a particular location. For example if I want the parts origin to coincide with the assy origin, or be at a particular place in space relavent to the assy origin. The MOVE function does not seam to give me the required results.

The other thing that I have not figured out is, if I have a model for example a fuselage, how can I get the cross sections at fixed points. In other words I want to draw formers for the fuselage. Can it be done, or must you use formers to model the fuselage in the first place?

Once again, thank you for your help.

Regards,

Dale

Cut a section view wher ever you want the former to be. Simple.
