Hello guys! Since I've been a dyed-in-the-wool scratch builder for over 30 years,,(been into RC for over 40 years),, I have to wonder if there isn't other guys out there that don't wonder the same thing!
(yes,, made out of balsa,, plywood,,etc.,,NO PLASTIC or FIBERGLASS!!) Anybody know of any plans? I get all glassy-eyed over the big F-84,, and some guy in Brazil,,I think,, built a big F-86!,,(sigh) [sm=tongue_smile.gif],,,LOL I'm one of those guys that does a lot of off-the-wall stuff,,got a lathe and mill in my shop,, made my own retractable landing gear,,etc,,(oh,, and it works,,too!!),,LOL ok,, any "hints" would be welcome!! thanks guys!

"DIAGRAMs"???? LOL sounds so foreign and unusual. cute!!! anyhow, this design looks like a scratch design. Otherwise, search this site for "plans," "sections," "drawings" "DIAGRAMS" etc and you should come up with an interesting find....not least of which is that excellent Russian site

Ya, I guess you could call them a sort of plan. But definetly not anything "ready-to-go" to build an r/c model.
The outline and a few cross-sections are a great documentation source to start with, but believe me, there's tons of work involved putting in:
- all the internal structural parts
- landing gear stuff
- all those wing ribs every 3-4 inches or so.
- work out the balance
- working out removable wings
- etc, etc, etc.
Literally tons of hours of Auto Cad work taking a 3 view into full blown r/c plans!
That's why, I personally don't think they would classify as r/c plans.

i'm in the middle of sorting all that stuff out right now with a fighter i have loved for a very long time. it is bitter-sweet to say the least.[:'(][:'(]

those "plans" are a far cry from a flyable product.......

Here's another plan of the CF-100. 1/6 scale with a 115" span.
Slightly different construction method.
The entire fuse is made of blue foam. Fiberglass the whole thing with 4 -6 oz cloth. Get your super finish on the outside, then burn out the foam on the inside.
Voila !! A one-off fiberglass shell!!
Those engine nacelles are 4 feet long.
edited . . oops, , forgot "no fiberglass" . . . ..

No plans on those sites.
Those are just 3 views. . .

30+ years ago, a r/c magazine showed each month a 3 view from aircraft they called "planes worth modelling"... many people used them to do everything from rubber powered models to u/c or r/c "full house, .61 powered r/c planes"... this russian site can be used as
it modern equivalent for anyone who wants to build a jet from scratch.

I haven't seen one of those fan units in years. The one I remember is smaller I guess for a 3.5 K&B. Kress fan or something like that. Too much water under the bridge.[:-]

bofrcr,
The art of scratch building and especially planking a fueslage is generaly lost and dimnishing skill in todays modeling.
I have been offering plans for several years now of my DH-100 DeHavilland VAMPIRE and DH-110 Sea Vixon and they are all wood designs.
The Vampire is available in 3 sizes, 1/6th - 80 in W.S., 1/5th - 96 in. W.S. [ most popular size] and 1/4 - 102 in. W. S. Laser cut wood sets are also avalible in all 3 sizes as well as F/G wing tanks, nose bowls, Canopies, Inlets etc, etc.
I have plans all other the world but find that the majority of my sales are in Eroupe, Austriala and South Africa.
If interested, please drop me a line.

You have a keen eye!
I built the CF-100 about 35 years ago. In those days we only had T-squares. No turbines.
Those fan units are the RK-40 Axiflow, originally sold by Midwest Industries. Midwest later sold out the Axiflow line to Kress, including the RK-20, smaller size. The RK-40 used K&B 7.5's. They were real dependable engines that came from the factory with a Perry carb and a Perry fuel pump built right into the rear engine cover.
The RK-40 was good for about 8-9 pounds thrust.
