Didn't know spirit jets had one. I have the D&B one. Do you have any cheater holes in the bottom to feed that dynamax?

Default T--2C Buckeye

There is no cheater hole but I have to trap door like slots about 3/4 by 5 inches long in the duckwork on the inside between the fuse and duckwork and my only concern is when its at full throttle it sucks the geardoors almost shut and sucks in the sides of the hatch area.. Any Ideas...Thanks Todd (Mine is the kit by DCU)

HI James
Sounds like you need more air intake.Your intakes look to be smaller and more scale than the one i had.You can make some blow-in doors, that would open to allow more air in.I beleive you need are 30 sq inches of intake area. Not to sure on that, its been awhile since i messed with ducted fans.

Default About time

Hi James:

I've been looking for someone to post a interior photograph of their T-2J ever since I signed up with RCU and you turned out to be the one who finally did it! I've 'Saved" that photo for future reference and printed out a copy to keep with my remaining kit if I ever get in the mood to do something with it. I already have a .91 OS/Dynamax fan waiting to go in it. Just need some more pictures like this one to help me out.

It looks like DCU changed up the hatch over the center wing/fuse area to allow for better access to the rear fuse. And since I don't see no "bridge" between the two wing spars to hold the flap and sileron servos, I guess they have been relocated out to their respective places under the wing? Is this the case?

Default T-2 kit changes

Don,
The flap servo was to be in the middle but now there are one in each wing and the elevator servo is in the tail with a small hatch and the rest you see is brake valve, retrack valve, filler valves and rudder. Will try to get more inside pics for you.. Thanks Todd

Default more pictures-allright!

Hey Todd-

If you are willing, lets make this thread a really good one. Everybody who has ever owned, and more importantlly, flew the D&B (and the others) T-2 post their pics here on this thread.

Specifically, we would want to showcase the items that made the model a successful flyer. Example would be like Todd's picture (see eariler post) showing the interior of the model.

Todd, I would like to see the flap servos installation, and the elevator hatch you wrote about. Also, did you build a platform within the fuse to collect the different filler valves, switches, etc., into one location?

Are any kits of the T-2 still available, and if so, does anyone have a web link for it?

Thanks,

Thanks Vin. I just did a search and found it too - my bad! Anyone have any experience with the Aeroloft kit? I wonder if a 12# turbine would work in it?

Default D & B T2-J

Yes, I had the D & B Kit and was it an engineering challange to get this ready to go. Upgrades consisted of inlet and exhaust ducting, gear placement, tail rigging and some strengthening. My T2-J (single engine Navy prototype) was powered by the Dynamax/OS .91/JMP II package, used the Spring air retracts with robart struts and contained all usable control surfaces. The jet can be seen on the SKS Florida Jets 2000 VHS tape. OH yes I used a 3 X 3 inch cheater whole

Norm, The fuel tanks are behind the center of gravity. Should Todd balance the Buckeye with the fuel tanks full or empty? Thanks, Mike Haddox

Default C.G.

I had a large 28 oz tank mounted on top of the wing spars as far forward as it could go. Also I had a 4 oz. header tank mounted under the cockpit just forward of the aft cockpit bulkhead. With this configuration I balanced at 25% with tanks half full. Seem to work initially.

Hey Todd, very nice looking jet!
I agree with Don that we should try to expand this thread on a 'rare' jet.
I have been scratching a 1/6th T2-c off and on for about 2 years now for twin DF or turbine. It has been hard to find out any info regarding flying characteristics or tracking down people with prior kit experience.
I understand that the D&B,DCU and Aeroloft kits are all from the same molds with some improvements thrown in as time has gone by.
I had heard that the D&B version displays some 'interesting' antics at high angles of attack or steep turns, almost like the stab gets blanked out and becomes ineffective.
Is there anybody who could comment first hand on this?
