Default JMA

even though i had only heard bad reports about the JMA i decided to bite the bullet last year and join due to the chance of more jet meets as there is so few in the uk now . Unfortunatly due to a few non aviation related matters i could not attend any of these shows but felt that being a member of the JMA i would be kept up to date on news/views and shows.
My subscription is about to expire and in the last year since i recieved my super shiny membershio card i have recieved.......................1 email and one newsletter both recently basically as a reminder to rejoin .
I at least thought i would have received some newsletters either by post or email on a monthly , bi monthly or even tri monthly basis but nothing .
I know there have been problems with the JMA in the last year but actually its not them i blame . The JMA has a massive amount of members but it seems that only a few people actually contribute to running it and probably give up a lot of there spare time and flying time to run it .
is this the case ????
is it actually us normal members who are not doing enough to help with what could actually be a great benefit to all Uk jet pilots

As I said to you when you emailed me last week whinging about this, why don't you come to the AGM this coming Saturday and get yourself involved. Armchair critics are ten a penny...people who actually do things are rare. Maybe you could become a 'doer'...perhaps organise a jet event for us?!

Not only should this year's AGM be a good one but the Mini-Trade show we've organised will see Motors and Rotors, Al's Hobbies, Digitech (TBC) Boomerang Jets, and others to spend you cash on.

Look fwd to seeing you there!

Cheers,

Dick

Hello

The JMA was formed to be a voice for all UK Jet Modellers-it does a lot of behind the scenes work with the BMFA to allow us to keep flying...especially when idiots put stories out about there crashes!
The JMA has stagnated over the last few years and the present commitee have run "dry"
We were unlucky to lose the services of Chris Gregory with his illness end of last year so many things need addressing.
The AGM this coming weekend should see a change of personel and a new begining. The guys coming onto the commitee will be pro active..but yes help from the membership is always needed.
The excellent JMA web site is really the voice of the JMA and is regularly updated with information.

The money you pay is important to the running of events...even hosting the AGM.

Just for the record and to demonstrate “other people†do actually get off their bums and do things, in 2003 I organised a two day jet fly in at Bentwaters Parks near Ipswich. The event was pretty poorly attended and finished up costing me money.

Not to be deterred or perhaps because I’m stupid I organised another one the next year thinking perhaps the date was to blame. The second one was even worse and cost me even more money; I could have bought a nice jet. So Mr Hill I have tried but, not anymore!

Any chance of publishing, the Post Code or exact map reference of the Guldhall? I tend to use Streetmap.co.uk to work out where I have to get to? At the moment I envisage a few mad modellers helplessly searching Abingdon.

Best wishes

It does seem to me that with fewer places to fly, and the owners of those few places putting their prices up many would-be organisers are getting their fingers burnt. Tends to put a lot of us off doing other things for the hobby.

I do hope that the JMA can turn things around as I would like to rejoin nect year when shall be a bit closer to the activity again!

I help organise a Fun Fly held at RAF Machrihanish. All are welcome (JMA member or not) the event is not strictly for jets, though the majority of the Scottish Jet flyers turn up. One of the few places left 'up north. It may be a bit of a drive but we have superb facilities including 1/4 sq mile of tarmac, security patroled club house with electricty, toilets for the ladies (and showers if you are really brave) May 12th and 13th. Contact Bryan on 01546602918

Sandor
Sandor,

Read your emails...I advised you that the JMA Easter meeting is for JMA members ONLY...not sure how much clearer I can be on that point!

As a GTBA member, you are welcome to fly at the post JMA AGM Jet Meet at Long Marston next Sunday (this is a special arrangement with the GTBA as part of the joint AGM weekend) BUT, I'll need to sort your temp BMFA M'ship/insurance for that...I emailed you about this point yesterday and again this am...pse respond to my emails if you want me to make arrangements because without T/BMFA M'Ship/Insurance, you'll not be flying at LM.

Cheers,

Dick Spreadbury

Hi Henry/all,

I did send details to: the JMA membership email list, with each member's hard copy calling notice, to my Classic Jets email list, here on RCU and, to cover the rest, I had it put on the JMA website...

"...Parking is at a premium at the Guild Hall, but there are plenty of car parks within a few minutes walk. If you go to www.streetmap.co.uk and search for OX14 3JE, you can see where the venue is, and the long term car park at Bridge Street..."

If you punch in the postcode given, Streetmap.co.uk will give you a freeby map that'll take you right to the door of the Guild Hall. BUT, there's very little parking there...which is why you'll need to expand the map a bit and find the car park at Bridge Street.

See you Saturday.

Cheers,

Dick (AKA CJ2002)

Mr Hill,

First off I agree with big richard arm chair whingers are ten a penny you don't own a jet you don't attend events it just seems talk, talk , talk , moan, moan and moan what is the point of you being a member ??. I understand not everyone is in a position to start forking out for jets and these people ARE welcome to join the JMA and attend events but not stir like you seem too when you pop up occationally.

The people who have been nominated for the commitee I know and they WILL get stuff moving this coming year and being part of the jma will be worth doing again. My opinion and it is only an opinion is that the jma needs new blood and people who do as they say hence I think if all voted in the commitee will be a strong one who will make it an interesting year for the jma.

Mr Missile I think your right but you won't be alone as I will most likely be as well but with me he will have no choice but to let me in as giving pain is a second hobby of mine I'll twist his arm a little further and mention your name - so don't worry.

love you realy fletch.

i cannot get to the agm as i cannot drive due to a disability as i already mentioned in an email to you . Mr Rutter i actually do have a few jets of my own which i fly at a very small site close to where i live. I know that people do go out of there way to organise events but these events are not known to people who do not have internet access etc etc .
I may be an armchair moaner but i am willing to offer my services for free to do a small newsletter with events in etc that could be sent out via email or post .
if the JMA would like me too then please contact me as I am sure other members would be willing to do articles

Jason,

Heatseeker hill no longer flies at elvington and with regards jet events i organised a jet weekend at Elvington two years
ago which had to be cancelled due to lack of interest, as you know organising a jet meet takes a lot of time and effort and
when people can,t be bothered to come it is very disappointing .
Seems to me and many others that JMA is for people down south and not northerners.

Martin ( Elvington model flyers secretary ).
