Been using this for the last couple of jets I've built, more handy than almost any other tool I've ever used. Draw up what you want, convert to code, and let her RIP.

Was using it today to make some pressure relief holes in the back of a Euro I'm building, and thought it would be cool to share.

Wow Sean, I'm jealous [:'(], that looks like a fine machine. Custom plates and formers and ribs etc. on demand !!!
Do you mind telling us how much it cost ? Is the the router you posted a link to some time ago.

Thanks.

Don't remember a router from some time ago, but I spent a lot of time figuring out exactly what would be best for what we did. I ended up buying a unit on Ebay new, paid 1200 or so for it. If I had to do it over again, I would have bought just the machine, no electronics on ebay for half the cost, and then bought what's called "gecko drives" you can google that. Cause the electronics that came with it, were junk and I burned it up in no time, the gecko drives are a bit more expensive, but turn out to be the difference in performance from a 10 dollar servo to an 8611. Had I known that, I would have spent my money differently. Live and learn.

I also have access to a friend who has the below, I believe he will start offering services for metal and wood parts in these forums.

The search on ebay is "CNC Router" I believe. Expensive, but Now that I have it, if it broke I'd buy another one tomorrow.

Thank you for asking. Attached are a couple of recent pictures. He is still in different kinds of therapy all throughout the day and has 24 hour people around him in case of a seizure, I live two doors down from him, and every morning I go over, read the paper while he takes a shower. He still has some memory problems, and he is sorting that out. He can remember every word to every song he ever knew, the brain is such a mystery. His latest surgery was a couple of months ago. They replaced the missing "skull cap" with some hip bone, and rib bone.

The road to recovery is tumultuous.

Picture with Mom, Picture playing UNO, one of his favorites, and he's not bad, especially when making his own rules

Thanks for the update Sean. We all shared the story of the accident and initial recovery, so it is great to see a lot of positive progress... please pass on my sincerest wishes for a full recovery.

Thats a pretty cool toy you got there, Sean. I wish I had a place to put something like that in my house - I could put it to work, since I draw all my plans on Turbocad. And good luck to your Bro...

Sean,

That CNC router is pretty cool. I was building one too, but got into screen printing tshirts and lost the garage space for my hobby related items. I still have everything in storage ready to complete it. I too went with upgraded stepper motors. Someday I hope to put everything together and use it like you are doing.

I just purchased a vinyl cutter, so maybe we can trade some work?

JR, email me the drawings and wood thickness, and I'll get it out to you no problem. Anything for a friend bud.

My size constraints are 24 long, 16 wide, and 2 3/4" in the Z axis. Pretty much covers anything we do that's not big plug related. I've played with the 3d aspects of the machine, and did some cool cones and such. It's pretty amazing what this thing will do.

I've been thinking about a vinyl cutter for a long time, send me some specs on what you got and where you think the price break is on it.

Email is [email protected]

Great to know you've got one ready to go though, I just haven't come across a good candidate yet for some vinyl, but I probably have not put enough thought into it.

The vinyl cutter I got is a Master XY-300P and I can cut vinyl up to 24" wide. I got it because I'm expanding my tshirt business to include vinyl signs and banners. I'll probably just give you a call tomorrow.

Hi Sean,

I live in germany and I have seen this post. Also I have seen the converted mills your friend is unsing. In grmany they are sold under the brand of "Rotenberg"
but I believe its the same chinese factory your friend got them from [:'(]

Would you mind to ask your friend for the components he used to convert them to CNC. I am thinking about this for about two years now but I could'nt fin d a paiable solution here in germany. So maybe your friend has some hints for me or can sell the neccessary parts to me?

Thanks in advance for the help. Feel free to send me a PM. I will share my email address the to have conversation easier.

Andreas
