In this little neat Gear/Brakes fill & air tank contents mount, is there something else i need to buy..?....The air seems to return to atmosphere as soon as i disconnect the filling adaptor ( the Brass thingy.)

Methinks the brass coloured bit should be permanently attached to your air-pump
When unscrewed, the blue bit will seal.

You also need a model plugged into the other end

Does the pressure hold with the pump still attached?

Yeah...Ive disconected all the pipework.

I don't think that matters Dave.
As long as the air system in your jet does not leak, that's what's critical.
I've had my ALDI pump to bits, it's not high tech stuff, it might be leaking there.
If you need nose-weight, fly with your ALDI pump attached......................................

Have you tried putting it under water whilst pressurising it? As Spartan says, leaking through the pump isn't a problem but leaking out of the air gauge/valve/pipework would be.

I was just trying to ascertain whether it was the action of removing the pump that caused the problem or just a straightforward air leak. Do both valves do the same?

Those fill valves leak, ask Todd at Dreamworks, they are pieces of junk, originally put out by air pac.

Get the BV fill valve, have worked flawlessly for me for years.

I am begining to think that way.....but i have one more idea.....I'll nip into work and get some 'Snoop' ...a liquid especialy designed for leak detection.

I've thrown two, one new, one almost new, of those away in the last month because they leaked.

Unfortunately, I've had a bunch of leaks with the BV fill valves. I switched over to the Clippard parts at a fraction of the price, and have had much better luck.

Clippard part # is MQC-3 for the assy including the filler adapter, and MQC-V3 without the adapter. You will need to add a 10-32 screw-in barb too, but it still comes out at less than $3 a pop.

.....Well Found the problem ..or should that be problems...With the aid of some 'Snoop' i found that the steel festo type fitting INTO the Jetronics wsn't tight ..and the the Robart air line i had used to feed into that fitting was'nt sealing properley...The Robart tube is just to floppy to push home effectiveley...

So Swagelok are putting soapy water in a squeey bottle and calling it Snoop, I bet it costs £5 a bottle or more.

Is it alcoholic ? at least you could take a swig whilst testing for leaks.

Dave, If you are trying to connect to a JetTronics unit you will need 3mm line going into the metal Festo type fittings in the valve, instead of the usual 1/8" line found on most retracts, etc. That's the reason it feels like the fitting and line are too loose.

Actually...that is not the case at all. I use these perticular valves in my personal aircraft and while we do have a defective one now and then, they are quite good valves. They either leak from day one or not... I have pressure checked the rest of the inventory I had in stock and only found one unit (out of 78) leaking.

I just take a extra fill adapter on these fill valves and solder the end shut. When im done filling i put that one back on. I also put about a 1/2 inch of tubing on the end to designate between my retracts and brake fill
