Anyone else using the digitech ready built u/c set. I was wondering if you had to modify the mains bay to accomodate as mine seem to be short. Is this the norm or have i got the wrong ones?

No you have the right ones, they are shorter than the pusher prop set up as the excess length of leg is not needed to clear the prop, as you are in the UK go to Sainsburys and buy a small Steak and Kidney pudding the dish it comes in is the right size to make a wheel well, bonus is that Epoxy does not stick to it very well so it is removable and they also make a good mixing pot, just let the epoxy set and flex the pot and out it pops, if you go back on the thread you will see how I did it.

Today was an absolute beautiful spring like day so I just had to get my Jet in the air. Ihad one camera mounted in the belly of the plane and another strapped to my forehead. I cut together a quick edit and posted it here: http://www.vimeo.com/10226417 So much fun! This was my first flight with onboard video. Great to see from the plane's perspective. This was also my first flight with my new JetCat P-80 SE (replacing the P-60 SE). I am totally thrilled with this new engine. 22 lbs of thrust is just perfect for my build and hardly drinks any more fuel.

Thanks. The onboard camera is a SONY MHS-PM1. I got mine last year from newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16830179222R.Sonynow has a newer version with image stabilization: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830179265. They are lightweight, record full 1080P, and most importantly have a rotating lens!

A bit off topic, but after flying my Falcon the other day, I decided to increase the thrust slightly on my PST600, while back at my home. That's when the trouble started! Here's a link to that thread and how I resolved it. Never know, but might help somebody else with engine problems.

Ok guys I'm still making progress with my Falcon120. I will post some pic's on the internal layout soon, but i have just busted out the nose gear frames and looking at some different options for in the installation of the nose gear.

Anyone got any pic's of what they did with their setup? I'm trying hard to not have the nose wheel hanging down in the breeze. Mine is seemingly coming out fairly tail heavy so i'm happy to put some meat in there to support the nose retract.

I based my solution loosely on fireblade's effort, and i will box in the nose gear as he has done, I've just Hysol'd another frame in there so i'll let that cure overnight.

My retract is a rail mount design, but i have bulkhead mounted it!! The reason for this is that if i mounted it on rails then I would have had to really recess it into the airframe to make sure the nose wheel didn't stick out. with the way it is setup now, it fit's in really well, and i haven't changed the overal length of the strut either so all good. I will make a hatch forward of this bulkhead to get the li-po packs as forward as i can for CoG reasons.

Interesting approach to mounting a nose gear.

Don't bother. Even with a turbine mounted in the back these planes come out quite nose heavy. Most end up putting the batteries in the middle or rear of the fuse to balance it. Of course that is somewhat dependent on which engine you are using and the weight and placement of your accessories. I've built two of them and there are a number of Falcon 120's in the area. Except for maybe an airtank none of them have anything in the nose. When building shift as much weight as possible rearward.

Joeflyer, my first Falcon, needed my batteries as far forward as poss, to get the balance right. My home made engine is heavy, although the pivot arm is not massive.
My later Falcon did not need any weight at the front.
I suppose better to lay everything in loose and see how your install comes out, cheers tim

My falcon ended up tail heavy. I have a K80e on it, not a light turbine. I also did a heavy stab only one servo adaptation. I had to fit all 3 batteries around the nose gear and added more 90 grams of plumb in the nose to get 330cm CG. If I would build another falcon, I would leave all turbine accessories and batteries to be installed at the end of the work to try to get nearer to the right CG.

I think it mainly depends on the turbine weight as the engine is placed behind the CG.

Of course you guys are right, it depends mainly on the weight of the turbine. I have no idea what turbine ticketec is using. The best advise for him is to not cut out a forward hatch before knowing weather or not he will need it. Unless he is using a heavy engine (P-80, K-80, Ram750,...) he probably won't need the nose weight.

I have a Ram 750 on my Falcon, and I added another header tank of 8 oz
on a tray over the nose gear formers (where the air tank goes) to provide the
correct CG. You will love the performance and the verticles you get from
the additional thrust.

A Wren 54 Mk 2.5

I put in nearly all the major bits and pieces i needed and she looked to be tail heavy which is why I was thinking i needed the packs all the way up front, but you do have a fair point. not need to rush making the hatch, just as simple later on as well.

I've almost finished boxing in the nose wheel, just have to work out if i will glass in the inside of the box seeing as i fly from grass and it could get all kinds of things in there...
