Default Schulze charger question

Hi Guys-
I have been using one of the older Graupner Ultra Duo II chargers for years for my nicads. Have recently acquired a Schulze 6-330d so that I can use both chargers together to enable me to charge ECU and radio nicads all at one time.
Two questions-
1. Are the two chargers pretty much the same, other than the fact that the 6-330d will do lipos ? (I don't currently own any lipos)
2. I always use the fully automatic mode-(plug it up and let it go)-If I need to charge NiMH instead of nicads, do I have to change any settings on the charger, or does it 'know' that I am using NiMh instead of Nicads, or does it matter ?
Thanks-Mike Oberst

Hi Mike,

I have the same Schulze model. I am pretty sure there is a separate mode for NiMh batteries. It wouldn't be good idea to charge NiMh with NiCD programs since you will have extremely hot batteries and you may damage the NiMh. In order to select the correct mode just push + and - buttons in a row at the same time.

Mike,
There is a seperate mode for Nicads and NiMh, The delta peak settings and termination voltage are a little different in each mode.
It will not hurt to charge both type in the Nicad mode. However by simply holding down both button and then releasing the left one first you will enter the program mode. Pressing the "+" button scrolls through the selections and pressing the "-" button sets the selection.
It really does become second nature after using one.

You can [link=http://www.schulze-elektronik-gmbh.com/guide/gi6-short-GB.pdf]Click Here[/link] for a 2-page cheat sheet if all else fails I think the cheat sheet is version independent.

Thanks Guys-
One last question-
1. If I set it to NiMh for example, will it default back to Nicad next time I power it up or will it stay on the battery type that it was last changed to ? Thanks-Mike O

It will stay at whatever type you last had it set for.
