In the instructions it says ''data port'' and warns ''factory use only''.

Why do you want to plug a battery into it?

Simple, I''m using a twin battery setup and have run out of sockets. I know I could just use a ''Y'' but if there is a suitable socket why not use it?

In the mean time I have plugged the second battery into the matchbox.

I have attached a photo comparing the R608FS with a 149DP. As Paul says, it really is tiny. In fact, it is so small that the servo plugs are a really tight fit in the little case.

I have used a Y lead, as before on my Hawk.
I will try to find out about the data port.

I just happened to visit the Futaba importer here in Singapore, Mr. Johnny Teck, and he told me that he was informed by Futaba Japan recently that Futaba FASST is operating on 36 channels on the 2.4 GHz band, and that there are 36 different channel hopping sequences programmed in the FASST system. (At random one of these sequences selected by the factory per each transmitter.) (Of course, as we know already, one hop every 2 milliseconds).

Actually, if the FASST system is using 36 channels in the 2.4 GHz band, then there are 36! (that's 36 factorial which is approximately 3.72 X 10^41) possible hopping sequences using those 36 channels. Since each transmitter has a unique GUID it could be used to select one of those sequences that is unique to only that transmitter. I find it very hard to believe given that capability, that Futaba would opt to build the system to only allow 36 distinct hopping sequences. I believe your friend got that part wrong...

The information seemed strange to me too, even more because he also added that Futaba will launch shortly a recommendation of only a limited number of TX's used on the same spot... which is a long way home from the original idea of SS and not an idea which is very compatible with the concept of GUID and the short 2 milliseconds occupancy per channel.... I am not sure any of that info is true I think your friend has either misunderstood or is ill informed.

Well, on the other hand, just because each transmitter has its own hopping sequence doesn't mean that the band can't get saturated. If you think about it, after so many transmitters are turned on, no matter where yours hops to, it may collide with another one. There is an upper limit on the number of FHSS transmitters that can be on in a given band at a time and it is a function of the width and number of channels and the hopping frequency. However, I'm not a comms guy so I don't know what it is. I'd bet in this case though that its more than 36...

Paul

We went to Classic jets and flew the Swallow converted to 2.4 using the 12FG. We also had 2 more flights with the Rafale with 2.4. So far no issues that we can detect. That makes 3 different jets we have flown with the 12FG. There were 54 pilots and I checked 12 were on 2.4. Not sure how many were 12FG/14MZ though. On a crowded flight line with 5 pilots and 5 helpers it certainly avoids any possible clash of aerials!

I just flew my 14 in an Elan on 2.4 and there was nothing to worry about.
A radio of that sort is not going to have any problems and I did not have any.
Glad i changed to 2.4.
Now I have three(3) 72 receivers that are going to be hard to eat.
Maybe eight hours in a slow cooker.

Just had another amazing days flying using the 12FG FASST system in the L39.[sm=teeth_smile.gif][sm=teeth_smile.gif]

Absolutely rock solid to stupid heights and distances.
Unfortunately the long soaking wet grass meant I left the Hawk in the car again. [sm=sad_smile.gif]

The 1st flight was just after a rainstorm, the ground was soaked and the air very damp. It just does not bother this system at all, all the initial concerns about 2.4 and rain, damp…etc etc. are now proving unfounded.

Very nice indeed![sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=wink_smile.gif]

I had approx 40 to 50 flights with my FX 40 and 2,4 GHz in 4 differend jets.
Eurosport, TwinJet, Cuttlas and yersterday the maiden in my JL L 39.
I didn't have no problem, all the equipment works well, I love FAAST

Great news.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]
To me it is just everything I have always wanted in a radio.[sm=tongue_smile.gif]

Simple to install
No whip aerial
Small and lightweight
12+2 channels
Easy to program
Full frequency hopping so excellent interference rejection
No pegs (pins)
Fast response
More range than I can use
Reliability in operation.

I never thought I would see this kind of gear all those years ago when I built my 1st valve set! [sm=sad_smile.gif]

Well I hate to be a kill joy but I’ve had a problem and am looking for some help since I have not been able to find any problems. What happened is, I was out with a new CA 40% Yak. The first three flights showed no signs of any problems. On the forth flight I had just taken off and had only been up for about a minute just flying an oval pattern. I banked the plane to head back toward the field and the plane just stopped responding and headed for the ground. Needless to say I never regained control and the plane went straight in. Unfortunately a total loss. The crash site investigation did not reveal any info because both batteries ware damaged in the crash. Everything looked to be still connected. Once I returned home I started checking components and thus far I have found everything works fine . I was able to reconnect one of the batteries and test the voltage was 7.5 under 1amp load. Here’s the equipment list. 12 Ch FASST receiver (with about 100 flights with no issues in a 50cc yak) Duralite SC12 power box with servo match. 2 5600 ma Lit ion batteries. 9 8611a servos, 2 8711 servos FASST module in a 14MZ. The batteries were tested before the flight and were just over 7.5V under 1 amp load.
I’m not looking to place blame I’m just looking for some possible info that will help me figure this out as I am quite bummed out. I also was looking to install new receivers in two other planes with a similar setup but am a little gun shy at the moment. From what I could tell the plane did not go into fail safe. The only thing I had set was the throttle to go to idle and it did not. I would appreciate any input.

The total failure to respond without a failsafe would most likely indicate a power failure of some kind...

Yes, a total loss of control with no fialsafe would indicate power failure or a problem with the power bus.
Sorry about your loss, it is never good[&o]

Just a heads up. On another website there is discussion on the 6014 RX locking out if it gets above 160 degrees after reading thread seems its been duplicated with 4 differant RX's. I have not tested my 2 6014 RX's. RCU won't let me post link to thread.
