Anyone know where to buy one?

Great Northern Models has a BVM Trigger valve in the fuel accessories section. A little pricey at $39.95 but it looks like quality stuff as is with all BVM products.

OOOPS- On closer examination, the Trigger Valve is no longer available. It seems that I saw one elsewhere. I'll keep me eyes open for another.

If you find out who has some will you pm me as I am in need of one also.

He states on his website that he has stopped manufacturing them, but he may have some stock left.

I went to that site but in big letters it says, "No more Trigger Valves"! I guess he must have been getting several requests.

For those of you who use Powermax and don't use the Trigger Valve, what are you using to fill your propane tanks?

My JetCat came with a Small piece of tube that you just incert into the top of the can. You have to PULL it back out when you are ready to disconnect.
It works, But the trigger was cool.

Here are a few places you can try, you will have to modify the valve by adding a barbed nipple to the end. What you are looking for are Photographic air duster trigger valves that are available all over the internet and camera shops.

That valve will not work with a powermax bottle, that valve is for propane bottles.

"Pull" is the operative word here. I also fill by onboard tank for my P70 in the same manner. You really do have to pull to get the insert fitting out. I thought I had a problem but I guess it's common.

You may have to shave a little more off of the plastic nipple to get it to pull out easier. Mine wasn't a problem...

Try Carlos at RTI. Also, be careful with the trigger. It works when you pull it and if it gets pushed forward. Don't ask how I know.

I did some research in the archives and read that Dreamworks had found a valve that they were going to start marketing when BVM stopped supplying. It was a rendition of a valve that is used by electronics repair people to blow dust out of the funny little parts on P/C boards etc. What ever happened to that source?

Here is the deal guys....

The trigger valve that Usher used to supply most of the dealers was discontinued by the manufacturer, OS Series II. I was told they discontinued this valve series because the canned air they worked with was also discontinued. We have ordered just about every other brand trigger valve on the market in an attempt to find a new source for converting them to a powermax valve. The problem is, all of the other valves require far too much modification to make them work on a powermax can. Carlos (RTI) and I converted several valves that I acquired but, spent over an hour of labor on each valve to make them usable. Because of the labor involved, we would have to sell the valve for roughly 50.00 ea to make them profitable. We felt this was too expensive and not marketable at this price. SO.... the question is, are you willing to pay 50.00 for a trigger valve?? If so, I will work on making some up....

My local source for Powermax, Dick's, has told me that it is no longer available. I know that can't be true, cause I see all you guys being able to get it. I have been to every sporting goods store within 50 miles and have not found any more. The Colemax propane just doesn't work as well for me. I guess I'm gonna have to make a trip to Huntsville or Nashville to find some.

Can you elaborate on why you say the Coleman propane does not work as well?? From my experience with MANY engine brands, Propane works just as well as propane/butane mix BUT, some adjustments usually need to be made to the ECU for start performance to match. The ONLY reason why Powermax became the brand of choice for some manufacturers is because of the pressure level of propane/butane mix which is a bit lower than straight propane. Years ago, when onboard start tanks where introduced, some modelers experienced propane line ruptures. Typically, these ruptures where in high temp conditions where, when baking in the sun fuse temps can exceed 150 deg. This raises the propane pressure in the tank while also softening the propane tubing.
Today, I find many customers removing onboard tanks and going back to straight propane for startup. The propane is easier to find not to mention cheaper, valve is cheaper and it eliminates carrying propane on board.... Heck, harbor freight sells an adapter so you can fill a coleman bottle directly from you barbecue tank!

Looks like $6.95 shipping. If you bought 6 cans that works out to about $4.70 a can.

Still $6.95 even if you buy 24 cans or so ... maybe get together with some of other jet guys in your area and put in a larger order to reduce the cost even more.
