do you think this would be to their advantage?
I'm not a legal expert in order to know whether there's any way that permitting an opt-out would create complications that could be disadvantageous in any way to the AMA.

However, I think it's high time that the AMA staffers stopped only considering whether changes are advantageous to them (in terms of simplifying their jobs etc) and instead concentrated a bit more on serving their members by providing mechanisms for the members to do stuff like Frank's event, instead of always looking to be more & more restrictive. After all, their charter supposedly includes promoting model aviation, not stifling it.

Do you know why the jet speed event was cancelled? The one by Eddie Weeks?
Numerous different tales are on offer nowadays, but at the time it was reported that JPO and AMA officials contacted the airport where the event was to be held, and convinced the authorities there to rescind Eddie's permission to use the site.

Amen to that Gordon.

Wow, the AMA is their for us....I guess. SO I bet the AMA is or has been working behind the scenes to close down Frank's event. This could be a test of wills.......To think that the AMA has a secret service oe worse yet a their own Gestapo.......

After reading all this I really, REALLY miss Curtis over here. ET was king at this sort of stuff.

It all seems mostly obvious to me. If you even want to do one thing(and that means, really just once in your lifetime) with the AMA, then guess what? If you "get caught" doing something "they" don't like, then you're in jeopardy of being "out."

Bummer.

If you're out there endagering MY hobby, then you'll piss me off. And you'll likely piss off all of us.

If the AMA is trying, even a little bit, to keep MY hobby going, especially in ways that I can't, then I'll participate. My choice, until I no longer agree, then I can change my mind!

Flying my foamie/balsa free flight glider recklessly can endanger my hobby. So I don't even think about making that glider go over 200 mph. [>:]
