Found it. $365 for full set for F14. I put a set of this stuff into an F18 recently, very bright. Used a lot of battery power though, but very bright and customisable too.

You will not be des appointed with the lighting kit that Detail for scale makes. They are very good. Yes they do use a bit of power but it's worth every bit considering how bright they are. You also use a separate battery to his controller so your receiver batteries don't get drained.

Get the ones from Details for Scale, they will work perfect....

By the way regarding the CG the screws that come with the F-14 are too short so it is better to unscrew the original ones and put a longer steel screw, this way you will have a good portion of the screw inside the structure providing enough strength to hold the entire jet.

cool, thanks for the explanation on the CG, had me a little confused before, but I am understanding now. Details for scale will be the way to go for sure, for the lighting.

I am hearing that. The F18 was using twin Life 6.6v 2300mah batteries in a battery redundancy setup and the lights were tied into one of the batteries, but was sucking the charge out of it in no time at all. It had 9 lights in total. After a while I noticed when switching on the aircraft that the lights would then change flashing sequence all on their own, due to low battery voltage, which the backer also showed as flat on one circuit, the switch flashing a red light to indicate one of the batteries was low on voltage, the lighting battery. It was a surprise when I first saw it happen. That aircraft I built for a mate to his battery specs. My own will get a seperate 4500mah 6v NIMH and I will give that a go.

My f-16 was done in four flights with a single 2300, not sure why its so power hungry.

Yep, that fan and those lights seem to add up and eat the battery. Probably worth putting a shutoff switch in the cockpit to make it easier to save power. Hit the switch before taxiing...just a thought really

I have gone the whole hog, all options on this one. Going to power it with 2 Wren 100 kero start engines. I need to buy a second one shortly and match it to my current one, which isn't very old anyway. Gone for this scheme

hey Muzz, congrats!!! mine should arrive somewhere by the end of April.... I also ordered all the goodies....mine is the Jolly Rogers as well, but the #146 (F-14B)
I'm also considering the lighting kit, it will surely bring the model alive.... Will be powered by 2 converted Booster 130's, now putting out 15kg's each....

I saw someone flying one on youtube with twin 100's and it had a good turn of speed, so that made my mind up to use the 100's. Should gain minutes of flying with the smaller engines using less fuel.... Time will tell on that one of course. If I can build it around 20kg dry, should fly well

haha, "we're going ballistic Mav....".....

I think, with more than 8l of fuel aboard, even the Boosters will give me a good flight time... they've been upgraded for more thrust at lower consumption....

20kg is not realistic though.... 25 empty will be more like it...

I guess 25kg is probably more correct. I forget that I am bombing this one up also. Usual to just carry a couple of sidewinders, but not this big girl.

According to Marios from Cyprus it's somewhere between 8.4 and 8.6 litres...

This jet looks pretty badass. I'm sure a gyro will smooth out the flight during swept wings. You guys should look into the Cortex. It's a fantastic gyro.
