Thats just nutts,, Not speaking about the pilot, everyone makes a mistake now&then.
its the spectators location with no saftey net or boundries to stand back away from flight line.

Check the quote in the 2. post above yours - the "pilot" wasn't even on the runway,
in fact, he was many yards away and no one could expect him to throttle up and
take off from where he did. These spectators had no idea they were standing by
the "flight line" before he decided to take off.
This is his fault and his responsibility alone. No one makes a mistake like that now and then..

Ok, I deleted all inappropriate posts here and cleaned up the attempts at bypassing the swear filter. Lets keep this as mature as possible or it will be closed ASAP. Although I'm not sure it should be left open anyway......

lol, that guy that the jet almost ran in to could have plucked that sucker out of the air with his hands. It wasn't going that fast. What an idiot that pilot was. Not to mention all of the other mistakes at a bare min. he should have shut down the throttle as soon as it went astray. Moreover, why would someone take off in the rough when it appears that the middle of the runway is smoother? Maybe it was wet? No clue. Bad judgement all around.

The interesting thing about the swear filter, is that it doesn't work properly. If you see something *****'d out, all you have to is hit the "quote" button on that post, and the full unfiltered text will appear.

We had a bonehead do that a couple of weeks ago in Hamburg, Pa. The pilot was doing about 150mph with the gear hanging and did not even say sorry. This is what will kill people and the hobby.....

I knew you would say something about this, Will B was kidding and you are to arrogant to see that. No one is endorsing what the guy did so don't get so F'n touchy. Who put you in your ivory tower? David you are right with most of your comments just lit-ten up, you are not the RC Guru. Butch Sickels

I think a Turbine Waiver suspension is in order:
Waiver Suspension
23. The AMA, through action by the Executive Director or its President, may suspend an individual’s turbine waiver at any time. The waiver holder shall be notified of the suspension in writing, including a summary for the basis of the suspension. A waiver suspension can be predicated on a written complaint by two AMA members.
Where a Contest Director at a sanctioned event believes a turbine waiver holder is operating in a reckless or dangerous manner, the CD shall supply a written report to the AMA describing the infraction(s) and shall disqualify the participant from further flights during the event.
A suspension shall be for periods in multiples of 30 days, up to one year. During the suspension period a waiver holder may operate a turbine aircraft under the supervision of an experienced turbine pilot or on buddy box if required to improve skill level. Upon completion of the suspension period the waiver holder will submit a letter, co-signed by an experienced turbine pilot regarding reinstatement. Repeated suspensions may result in removal of the waiver.
Unless it can be proven that his was caused by complete mechanical or radio malfunction, this guy threatens our hobby and should be taken to task.

Yup, it would be, but seeing as how it happened in Iceland the AMA has nothing to do with it. As Forest Gump said:
Stupid is as stupid does......
seems fitting in the case of this video doesn't it

Gordon, exactly !!!!!
Sorry you could not see that Butch, check six !!!
I will be flying at our major Australian jet meeting this weekend. The organisers have a rule that ALL take offs will be started ABEAM the pilot box to avoid exactly the situation shown in this video . We have the space on the long runway. So you see, Butch, someone has already given this issue some thought and I am more than happy to comply. They, too , care.
Another point is this . There is enormous scope for fun and enjoyment in this hobby in which I and so many others are so involved. However, safety is a serious issue and, as Gordon Mac says, no laughing matter, its one aspect we ALL have to take deadly seriously if we are to protect our hobby and the livelihoods of those dependant on the wellbeing of the hobby. That's my approach take it or leave it, perhaps we can keep the "humour", such as it was, for the other threads !!!
Last week I made a post on the loss of two A340s (one at Toulouse, the other at Quito) when it all went pear shaped, despite professional operation. It happens. Take that as it was meant, a heads up for us all and that video as a warning that there are seriously poor operators in our midst. If trying to keep safety on a serious level attracts insults from you or anyone else, then so be it. I get enough PMs from professional aviators thanking me for sticking my head above the parapet on saftey issues that the odd insult is small beer. !
