Rafale was not discontinued. Molds were damaged and new ones needs to be made but they are quite busy with other projects as well. The Rafale will return.

Do you guys think a 700 feet grass runway is enough to land the f-16 ? I have a 5000x250 runway I can practice on
but I like to bring my jets to the local club.
Thanks

Hi Mike
thanks for the advice on the pics.. as a flying buddy of mine says "i'm a squashed hedgehog on the information superhighway" programming my 9zap and the 757 FMC is my limit on computers!!! As for the thrust line on the tail mount I'm yet to be convinced....I've been into jets ducted fan and turbine for many years and as a full size pilot and engineer see the pitch power couple more of a problem than a 0 degree one (as per full scale F16) but i keep an open mind i'm pretty well up on aerodynamics but in no way an authority!
A great thread so impressed with the FEJ product can't wait to see the F18
Kind Regards

Hi Jeremy
We just got some Rafael in my club, and some has shipping damages. While waiting for replacement parts, we are now stripping down the boxes and repack the planes with our industrial grade corrugated boxes before sending them out to our USA club. Our crew call these original wraps " raccoon-ed trash bags" because they contains broken foam blocks, wood chips, bubble wraps, and flimsy recycled paper board. [
]
Hopefully they have improved the shipping boxes a bit by now.

Mike, what up…
Listen, you know that FEJ shipped 50 to 100 to TBM for resale—how is it that those (I guess) arrived TBM undamaged? But those to our club and other individuals out there arrived mostly damage. Do you think FEJ cared a little less on the individual side with a great deal of care on the business side (TBM)?

Guess it depends on the shipper. My Rafale arrived undamaged from China to Canada in 5 days. It was packed with broken foam, thin plywood sheets, and lots of bubble wrap, messy, but definitely didn't get damaged, only suspect part was my tail pipe which was squashed a little bit but I was able to round it out without any problem again

Hi Mr DJ,
I believe the packing is the same, but to their major resellers, they might go by bulk shipment, so they are more intact and less chance to get thrown around. Ours were shipped out individually as they roll out from Fly Eagle so ours are more prone to damages. If their boxes can't survive the parcel shipment within China, I suspect that they will ever survive the journey from West to East coast. I hope their resellers will repack these planes again before shipping them out to their customers.
I hope you live in California so you can go to our warehouse at Long Beach picking out your plane fresh off boat. The only damage you get is a seasick
pilot.

I’m afraid of Cali, Mike.
One day like in the ‘90s or was it the '80s, Cali is going to have a huge, huge earthquake and swallow up all of you—I’m not tryin’ to go out like that…
I do wish I was there to pick it off the ship, but I’m not worried, for I know you have My Back—I know you’ll take care of me. I felt that soon after we communicated a few times in the beginning—remember? I felt it strongly enough to buy two planes from you before even receiving my first—you know what I’m sayin’?
And it is that same sense of loyalty that already have me buying their F-18 from you when it comes out—ta daaaaa

Hello,
I recieved my FEJ F-16 today. It looks great. One former under the cockpit deck is cracked but no big deal. I have a question. The online instruction manual depicts a precut hatch for the rudder servo. My verticle fin has no cutout on either side. I have tried to follow this thread but i dont remember anyone discussing this. Did they forget to cut my hatch?

COdy,
there should be a cutout with a recessed edge on the left side of the fin (looking from behind the plane) where the cover lays against. You can cut your own and use thing ply to support the cover. If you need dimensions where to cut, let me know and I will send you a sketch.
Regards,
Mike

COdy,
If I don't do it now, I will forget. See attached.
Here is what I would recommend. Draw a line with pencil about 0.930 from and parallel to the edge of the fin. From that line at the bottom come up 1 9/16, that will be your right bottom corner. I would place painters blue tape on the surface and after you draw the box, use a thin dremel wheel with saw edges (not the cut off) to cut the cover off.
Now the instructions show this area on the left side of the fin when looking from behind, but if you do not have a "reversed servo" for the steering, I would make my cut out on the right side of the fin as you are looking from behind the plane. I did not have a reversed servo so I am crossing my control line for the steering, it works, but not optimum.

Mike

One question for you guys. I read just read the whole thread to get an opinion on turbine position. I have a Tigermeet coming soon with a WrenSS. Considering acording to specs the SS is lighter than the standard Wren54. which would be the best position to put it. I was oringinally going to mid mount it but now I know it flies well with a tail mounted setup I am not sure which way to go???
Regards

Mike,
Thank you for the time to make that sketch. I had sent an e-mail to FEJ inquiring about the rudder servo cutout. Turns out, they didnt forget. They replied that they have changed the location of the rudder servo and attached 2 pictures. Maybe someone here understands what to do from the pics, but I do not.
Here are the pics they sent.
Thanks again Mike,
Cody

Cody,
Use a mini-servo that fits into the pocket at the bottom of the fin and cut a notch in the side of the fin, at the bottom, for the servo arm to come out. The notch becomes a slot when the fin is mounted to the sub-fin that is on the fuselage...

Hi Cody,
Does yours look like that? if so, I would go with what Bob is saying. Use a servo around 60-70 in-oz torque that would fit. You may have to use mini servo as bob is suggesting, I do not believe it is wide enough for a standard servo. Heck, if you did not like that, then make the mod in my previous posting.

Mike
