I finally have cured my problem with the mains not going into the wheel wells. I have robart main gear and added the electric motor from Dreamworks. Now I have six successful flights with the gear totally retracting. It now has 30 total flights. But my nose gear is wearing out and also the tires on the mains. Does anybody have a solution for the nose gear? Did PST ever redesign the nose gear retract? Are they still in business, the emails I have sent them have all bounced back.
Uncle Joe took some great pix of it yesterday

Also, acceleration on the ground is slow. This is usually the wheel brass bushings seizing due to the weight/ friction/ tight clearance.

Thanks for the info. On the wheels bushings. Should I change it too bearings or by opening the clearance good enought?

i was going to add more take off flap to help take off. What amount of take flaps are you using?
to chmage AOA means I would have to shorten Main gear or length front nose, which is not good as it is already long.

I fitted bearings on mine and shortened the main struts.

1/2". I had to custom machine new main struts.

Regarding flaps, the more you deflect them, the more pitch down effect you get, which increases the force required by the elevator to rotate the plane for takeoff.
You need to sort out your AOA problem first before fiddling around with the flaps.

I went through all these problems when I built the 4 Queens. I wrote a 30 page article in RCJI about all the mods and building process in 2008. The article was split in 3 parts over a 6 months period.

Brian, I am afraid you might have to get a retract custom machined for the nose strut. If you cannot find any solution to this problem, I can machine a set of walls for you if you send me a CAD/CAM file.
I can compile gcode for Solidworks, Catia or Autocad.
