Default 12 FGA Software Programing Problem

Hi All

Anyone else having any problems programing their 12FG's?

It appears there are several software glitches I have uncovered while trying to program three aircraft. I do not know if this is only my unit or if it's a universal problem but I would appreciate your checking on this and letting me know.

Problem 1

Both slider switches will only yield a very small servo movement no matter what the End-point/AFR setting values. You can check this by asigning it to any function such as Flap, Elv, Ail, etc. and then going to the servo monitor and actually move the slider you just set up.

Problem 2

No matter what you do to set up the 3 position SD switch the programing arrow will not follow the switch position [it won't move at all]. As an example, set up the SD switch as the aileron D/R switch and try and program it. I guess this could be a bad switch but I would like to make sure this is not a software problem before I go to the trouble of sending it Futaba.

Thanks to all who may have any info on this.

So far my FASST conversion is going well but have not as yet flown it.

My biggest complaint has been the 12FG Instruction manual. As compared to excellent previous manuals Futaba has produced, this one is JUNK!

I have not experienced either of those problems with mine.

I haven't seen this either on the 12Z which is about the same programing wise.
I would check both AFR and ATV. Also, do you see the small throw in the servo monitor? If you do, this is a software / config issue. If you don't it must be something in the rx / servo.

A friend here in Spain who bought his 12FG in USA also suffered the same trouble and the shop offered changing it as it proved impossible to correct and we all understod it was just a malfuntion. No other 12FG at my club has showed that fault even no one at the spanish distributor for which I help with the spanish manual translations and we checked a few ones!.

So it is best you contact the shop and try getting a different one.

Best Regards

I have triple checked the End-points and AFR values I even set up a basic new model airplane, single aileron, normal tail and then asigned a slider to any of the primary function [ie ail, elevator, rudder etc.] I would not program anything else, go to the servo monitor and it would show 13.5 gegree on one throw and 26 onthe other throw from netural??

I am begining to think the SD switch problem is bad hardware. All other switchs work as advertisied.

It sounds like a calibration issue. I don't know about the 12FGA specifically, but on the 12Z, there is an hidden menu to configure the tx including calibration.

See: http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=20745

Call Futaba support line (see http://www.futaba-rc.com/techsupport/index.html). Don't email as they don't respond.

Alternatively, the official futaba support forum RCU is very good

Just checked my sliders and switch and I get full throw on both and can program the sd switch. Is this a new 12FG that they were going to modify for you with the snap switch on the left?

Yes, they did the mod and my snap switch is where it belongs. Thanks for the reply.

I have left a message on the Futaba Direct Forum but have not received a response. I will call support as soon a I get un-burried in my office. I am begining to think that my problems are specific to this TX. Thanks for the reply
