Hi!

Good read on this thread for the Sprint - I'll begin my build soon and have a question about some the gear arrangments I have seen. In some pictures it looks like people tend to use a carbon fiber plate to mount components to, is this correct or the way the kit is made? If so, anyone know where I can get a plate like this? My LHS doesn't carry these items...

Thanks!

HI Everyone,

Doc is right take your time and pay attention to the details...........I'm happy to say that on 09-09-09 I logged the 100th flight on my sprint and more since............. I still think it's the best grass field sport jet out there!
Thanks again Alan and also to dreamworks for their great set of landing gear.

I have hunted throught this thread at least twice but i only saw a few posts on weights. what i read was 16# 2 oz, 16#, 8 oz, 18# 2oz. i thought i would find more weights posted but i did not.

Can more of you post the following

1. all up weight (full UAT, no fuel in tank)
2. CG-and if it was done with the wings on or off
3. if you checked CG with wings on or off, did you check it the other way also and what were your results?
4. which motor you are using (espeically interested in AUW for 80 sized motors)
5. Flap-do you use max flap setting or less, if less, how much?
6. Crow-do you use it, if so, how much (in degrees or mm/in) at 1/2 and full flap.

Really appreciate any numerical answers. trying to sort out a few things.

Really like my Sprint, it has given me so much joy this summer! So easy and rock solid in calm or windy weather. To bad the winter is comming and snow will soon cover the runway, how will I survive this?

My is powered by P-80SE, goes 90degre straight to moon from runway, but at 1/4 thottle it´s so fun to just fly around with a big smile

Hello out there,

this is my first post here after reading the whole thread with great interest. Since I picked up one Boomerang Sprint second hand here in Germany, I can't wait to get it in the air. The guy I got the Boomer from lost his original manual, so I'd like to ask if someone here has a manual for the Sprint that could be emailed? I already wrote to [email protected] but got no answer yet. Any help would be very appriciated!

Greetings from Germany

Stephan

I am very interested in this model. Will it fit into a large passenger car (LS400)?

Thanks, Pete

If you dismantle it you can fit it in anything. Even a trunk of a small car. Just remember when building the plane that you need to keep the servo extension connectors in easy to get to spots.

The length of the fuse with the booms and elevator on is just under 6 foot long. I can fit it in the bed of my truck (6ft bed) when I don't want to lug the trailer around.

Look at the picture in Post # 971 that could be another option I guess.

Edited to Add post #

Thanks Pete!

Actually it's not necessarily the length Im concerned about, My 75" F-16 fits in my car. Its the distance between the two booms. It doesn't seem like you can do anything about that.

Are they roughly the same spread as the elen? Can you d your little trick (as depicted) on the Elan as well?? [sm=idea.gif]

What gear is supplied with this ARF? Is it grass worthy? Should I just say the hell with it and get the T/links right off the bat?

I think the sprint comes with a fixed piano wire UC as standard, but they look so much better with the gear tucked away and there is a marked increase in speed when they are retracted, definately go for the Trailing links if you are flying from any sort of rough patch, Digitech or Dreamworks the desicion is yours, but my Digitechs have outlasted the Dreamworks on my Elan.

Guys, the Sprint comes with no gear.
Digitech Prolynx stuff works very well for me, Al's Hobbies or Digitech, Gary.

i do notice after awhile the prolinx get a little slop in them. i think a little is normal though. i think there designed to give a little on landing. i would never fly a jet with stiff legs. it just takes the fun out of it. my elan is still flying great. thanks again for the advice before.. my sprint has about 100 flawless fights now.. great airplane....

Hi All!

I just got my Sprint this week and I am starting my winter build (no hurry since I live in Chicago) but I have a few questions regarding the build:

1) Can someone post a picture of a good way to run the overflow line?

2) I have read in this thread about securing the canopy better in the rear, as I have noticed with my ARF there is a little gap in the rear. Can someone post a picture of a good way to correct this (I have seens posts but didn't give me a good view) or direct me to where I can buy a pin similar to what Alan used to keep the rear down? I have looked at BVM hatch pins but I don't think that will work (as they are only used for location).

3) I am using Hitec HS7985MG servos for most surfaces and HS5625MG for rudders - can I use the supplied plastic servo arms or should I upgrgade to aluminum? I'm planning on using CF control horns (hysol in place) with H9 Titanium links and Du-Bro 4-40 ball links.

4) Is it necessary to fuel proof the inside? I would rather not add the weight of painting the entire inside (or the time to mask and spray)

I'm sure I will have more questions as I continue but this thread has been a great help so far.

BTW - I'm putting a P80SE in it and Dreamworks gear

Thanks!
Kurt

1) I don't have a picture but I just ran the vent line straight down from the tank and out of the bottom. I just used a 6mm bulk head fitting.

2) My latch fit tight at first then after a while I noticed a little gap. Then it would not hold at all. So I just installed another pin style hatch latch on the other side. here is the link for the latch
http://dreamworksrc.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=999

3) I went with futuba servos and the HD plastic servo arms. I did use the supplied contol horns but I went with 440 rod and ball ends. Just my personal preference.

4) I did fuel proof the inside pretty much everywhere. I just went with 30 min epoxy mixed with alchol and put it on as thin as I could get it. I did not want to take a chance of some sort of leak and getting the balsa soaked with fuel. Funny thing I did just have a leak in my flash fuel tank not a bad one but thats not balsa.

P 80 will be nice. I have a falcon in mine and I went with the Digitech pro lynx.

What I do on all my Jets is to use a small 2oz fuel tank as a vent over flow bottle.
What you do is you fit one piece of brass tube in the tank so it goes to the very bottom (not touching), and another short piece just inside the bung. The tank is then mounted vertical, the vent pipe from the main tank is connected to the brass tube going to the bottom of the 2oz tank and the external vent pipe is connected to the other brass tube. See picture below fitted to my Boomerang Intro.

When you fill your tank the overflow no longer ends up on the ground but goes into the vent tank, this fuel will then be sucked back into the main tank when the turbine is running.
With this tank fitted you also dont have any issue carrying the model and fuel leaking out the vent pipe all over your clothes, especially when turning a model sideways going in and out workshop doors etc.
Second benifit is if you need a bit extra fuel you can deliberatly fill this tank as well and it will become a onboard taxi tank.

I use a piece of alum or brass tubing as my vent outside the model.
