thanks, but it was nothing spectacular. That is my son's F-22 and he is flying it (hot stick!!). He managed to bounce the landing on the video, but as you can see, it just settled back in again. That is all the video I have til we get #2 up and flying this spring. right now we have the gear doors in, and just have to do the air cylinders. Once that is done, progress should be fairly rapid.

RE: Feei Bao F22 Raptor advise Please
Hi Wayne , Dave, i was the one who started this thread a good while ago now , i am nearing the end of my build and need to set the C of G possition .
This model i feel has particular considerations regarding ballance due to all the wheels going forward when retracted and more of a problem all the fuel is stored in front of the ballance point !.
My gut feeling is always set a models C of G in its worst senario, landing , wheels down with little fuel ! , however with this model in wheels up and full up the Cof G would move forward about 2 to 3 inches,
Could you give me some real world advise to what you have found works with this model, many thanks , Dave.
Will post some pics when finished !

good for you...we are just finishing off the gear doors......mind you, we won't have any decent flying weather for some months now.... Balance point was just fine . Wheels up or down, or the fuel load don't seem to have much of an effect on it... The 22 has a very broad wing chord, and the fuselage contributes a bunch of lift as well, so I'd expect it will accommodate changes in the cg without much fuss. My f-16 has a 2" range, and has flown at both extremes...it seems to fly better the further back it is. I know people that have gone 1/2" further back than I would dare......
so, don't over think it too much, just follow the recommendations and fly it, and adjust to suit your preferences afterwards......

Thanks again Wayne , our weather is very bad also at the moment , very cold .
I shelfed the F22 for a while as i was building an Ultra Hots (45cc fun fly ) especially to suit the wind and cold as the jets and warbirds are too expensive to chance and take too long to rig, by the time they are ready to fly our fingers are dead with cold !!
I will set the F22 Cof G at 160 to 170 , i think from the point where the pointed front of the wing joins the fuselage , could you confirm that or give me a definate point of referance .
I had also some concerns about the model rotating if nose heavy but i have flaps i could put half down to help if needed.
Once again thank you very much , i hope you are all well , Dave.

Center of gravity 160 to 170 mm from where the leading edge meets the fuselage
Regarding the gear, check out the takeoffs on the video...again, stock gear, and cg in the middle of the range, and as you can see, absolutely no problems rotating... I know a bunch of guys went to the trouble of reversing the main gear so that it retracted backwards, and got the wheels closer to the cg, but in all honesty, it is not worth all the work that is involved.....

I'm searching for the cockpit. I contacted via email www.greatnorthernmodels.com and ordered a cockpit but nobody answered me, perhaps someone knows if they still sell products? All the items and news are from 2007...
I visited a large number of sites but nobody has this cockpit. Do you know where can I find one?
Many thanks

If you don't mind me saying so, it looks like your main tanks are switched side to side...the curved side fits up against the intake trunk, and the tanks can be pushed a lot farther forward. The seam on the tank actually rests on the bulkhead.. It would be real nice if they did provide an instruction manual.......
Did you make the bypass yourself???

Thanks for picture. Wayne.
That looks little different but i think the way i set tank up is close to CG and Does that matter??
Because mine works so fine.
Thank you !!!

Wayne could you please explain me how I have to assemble the forward tank? I don't understand if I have to put inside the tube for the fuel or not because there isn't space, the tank is short and vertical !
I don't understand english very well so if you could make scheme it would be great.
Many thanks
Alessandro

Hello
How did you guys mount your flap servos. Did you use the 90 degree aluminium brackets? I only have two sets of those for the elevators.

RE: Feei Bao F22 Raptor advise Please
Hi all , finally got the F22 ready for test flight ,just waiting for some decent weather !!
thought i would try to add a pic , not very good with computers !!,
As you may tell scale finish does not worry me , i am more concerned with safe flight characteristics and good visability .
Wayne , i set the C of G as recomended , may i ask if you had to add any up elevator trim for level flight , some models like the F16 / delta's like to fly very slightly nose up , thought i would ask to save any unpleasant surprises with first flight .
I would like to say how much i have enjoyed reading all the posts, i have learned a lot from you all since starting the thread , thankyou , Dave.

Wow,,,,that looks fantastic!! I like it!! According to my transmitter, there is one click of up elevator trim.
We used Hit 5985's on the flaps for holding power ( the non digital servos would not hold those big flaps down..I can't remember exactly how we mounted them as they were built over a year ago (they are recycled from #1, having survived in great shape.) I believe we may have used a Tams servo mount......
One neat idea my son had was control locks for the stabs as they kept dropping during transportation and storage and susceptible to getting banged up..

RE: Feei Bao F22 Raptor advise Please
Hello
Well I started work again on my F-22. I am working on my flap servos now. I had to fabricate new servo mounts using aluminium T section as seen in the pictures. The reason for this is that if you use the L section, then the head of the screws that hold the servo mount to the wing structure foul the servo hole covers. I didnt want to countersink the L sections. Now with the T section the screws are further down.
Also its quite nice to see carbon cloth and carbon tows in various places, as seen in some of the pictures.
How is everybody else doing with theres?
