That is true Joe Had the MAC DADDY B.B.Q. it was quite the set up. Had a lot of fun and I am glad to know you guys. Hell with that set up we could even have a great time in should I say BAKERS FIELD????????

Ron
Ron, with the set up from last week end, we could have had fun in the middle of Afganistan. As Ali said "Jets over the Taliban"....we'd rock that shiznit!

8 Pop up lights, 4 generators, Ron's jumbo cooler and Joey's jumbo BBQ... Those who missed the field activities truly missed out. We even had Dan Avila tippin a few....

And don't forget Dave Rigotti's big bottle of Absolut, Chianti, Sauvignon Blanc, 2 trays of boiled scrimp, cheese from the Hungarian Sausage Shop in Pearblossom and a whole boatload of wangs..........................All enjoyed in the carpeted tent provided by unclejoe......Man, that's liv'in!

How many days until Ca Jets 2010?

John
Yes Dave started us off with the big bottle of absolute but John added 2 more as the weekend went on. Along with Chianti, Sauvignon Blanc, 2 trays of boiled scrimp, cheese from the Hungarian Sausage Shop in Pearblossom and a whole boatload of wangs. Hell all we needed was a few hooters waitreses to make our set up complete.

...and that is the biggest effing cooler ever!
I think that sounds like a challenge !

Joey ... are you gonna let Ron boast about having a bigger cooler than you ? I think you need one twice the size, with the Tecate Girls serving ice cold beverages from it.

Gordon

Gordon,
Next year I bring a rerigerator and freezer, who needs coolers, generator to provide power, lights, music, bbq and then the RV.
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to save Joe and Ron the trouble of looking for a RV for next years event. First one to shoot me their card details gets this one delivered to Button willow for next years event.

Ali,
I have an RV, but that one you posted is awesome. The last few CA jets I took my RV, next year I bring it back, love staying at the field, the only time we have to leave is for the saturday night dinner.

Found one more RV / trailer rental place in Bakersfield, that DOES do delivery & pick-up of the unit. Their site is still getting set up, but it should be worth keeping an eye on for future BW trips. http://www.aandbrv-rentals.com/

Hi Joe, that's good, park next to Dave and our toy hauler. Whoever gets there first will save a spot for the later, OK? Of course, check your six at all time.

That really blows Joe.
I did see quite a bit of that action going on this trip.
Both on the way up, and on the way home.
I'm usually screaming, but took it a little more casual this time.
Hope they didn't nick you for too much dinero. Not a great way to start the weekend, that's for sure.
Send me those pics of the backyard bro.

Yup - none of the RV rental places I've found are open on a Sunday.

What about having the banquet at the field next year? Seems to work good at the Speedworld event. Have the Willow Q bring down some split barrels and Q-UP some grub. Best part about it is that the people who want to keep flying can do so. There is no lack of power (generators) and lights (husky pop ups) .

yes Doug I remember those sweet flights we got while dinner started...

After that flight I got to the beer and barbeque so fast my turbine was still cooling off.

Gordon, that drop off deal is sweet if the trailers are decent. A big one of those might sleep 3, not 8 (unless the 8 guys are very friendly)

I like the idea of the official dinner at the field too. Quite the appropriate location, the only variable would be the weather (though the odds are in our favor at BW).

Gordon, Dianna talked to them and we think "apples to apples" it might be 100-150 a night.

For 3 guys you are talking now.

Sounds pretty good to me. Do you know if that included the delivery & pick-up charges ? Any other restrictions that you know of, such as minimum # nights etc. ? I'm wondering whether this might be viable for other trips to the Willow, not just the longer trips for the event.

Please thank Diana for doing some of the homework for us.

Please thank Diana for doing some of the homework for us.
Done.

BTW, in my experience this is not an ordinary service that most RV rental places offer. It has to do with the fact that they are close to other high demand RV activities like ATV, etc.

She got a quote for 4 days. This is for a 34 foot 5th wheel trailer, which will_very_comfortably take 2 people, 3-4 in a pinch.

The minimum charge is 3 days. 100 per day, and 200 for the extras like dropping it off, picking it up, cleaning, etc.

The extra (4th) day is 100.

So that is 600 for 4 days, pickup and drop off included. Maybe 1.5x the hotel charge?

Now of course there is a lot more to the story. Are these guys reliable, what is the state of the RV, etc. And there are logistics to figure out (who gets the groceries, etc) but in my opinion, for 2 guys over 4 days this is very attractive to investigate.

I vote for the dinner, auction, fashion show at the field for all the aforementioned reasons.........Weather would not be an issue with the big carpeted tents and the lighting.........

How many days until Ca Jets 2010?

I bought my RV the summer before the first CA Jets and have stayed in it at the field every year since. Wouldn't even think of doing it any other way! I think I was there by myself the first year but the numbers have been steadily increasing each year, with the after flying party getting more and more enjoyable with more & more pilots each year joining the party! I took the whole week off this year & got there on Monday. Had an awesome time and was always within crawling distance of home after the evenings libations.

Next year make it CA Jets WEEK! Let's get this party started!

Yes Dave,
I should have brought my RV, just a waste, I hardly ever use it. Nothing like staying at the field and dont have to leave until its time to go home, next year for sure I will be taking my RV.

California Jets, the official "Woodstock" (or in a more contemporary respect), the "Burning Man" of RC Jet Aviation! I'm in!
