Default Dual Servo Delta Setup on 12X?

Hi,

Just getting to grips with my new 12X and wondered if I am doing something wrong or perhaps this new set does not support what I am trying to do with an inbuilt mix.

Basically I want a delta wing with dual servos, the manual says that dual servos are available, but when I select wing type delta it will only let me select RUD or FLAP, AILE and ELEV are greyed out??? If I select a nother wing type they are un-greyed, am I missing something obvious?

Thanks

Sean

Sean,

You are not missing anything obvious because the 12X (surprisingly) does not support dual servos in the Delta wing type. I went through this process a few months back with the assistance of a JR rep. We eventually came up with 4 program mixes in conjunction with Delta wing type to accomplish the task. Here's how:

Select DELTA wing type. Plug the left wing servos into Ail and Aux 4 and the right wing servos into Elev and Aux 2. Program the following mixes:
Ail+ to Aux 2 pos 0 L +100 R +100
Ail+ to Aux 4 pos 0 L +100 R +100
Elev+ to Aux 2 pos 0 D -100 U -100
Elve+ to Aux 4 pos 0 D +100 U +100

You will have to experiment with the throw directions depending upon the direction your servos are installed. The "+" behind the master channels means that they will trim the slave channel but each servo can be sub-trimmed independently to get them matched up.

Of course you could also just use two matchboxes!

Hope this helps.

Craig

my 12x (which is MV version does support it under delta) ............. after you select Delta just wheel over and select DUAL. make sure you have deactivated the other channels under code 17 to get this option....

then the 12x will do all the functions of a matchbox all by it's self so you don't need matchboxes or programable mixing. it's one of the best features of the 12x.

Thanks Craig,

I ended up doing just that, but I cant believe the radio can't do it as a built in mix.

Hi KC36330,

I cant get the AILE or ELEV to 'un-grey' unless I select wing type normal, I have all functions in 17 set to INH.

Are you sure your radio has the AILE and ELEV enabled in the Dual section with a delta wing selected? If so could you go to a new model reset it, make it aero, INH all in 17 and try to set DELTA with Dual?

Thanks
Sean

mine does, but i have the MV version which has some differences in the software over the dedicated version. you have a few features i wish mine had and i have no idea why they didn't put the same software in both.

What is the MV version and what's it all about?

it's the module version that flies both 2.4 and 72 MHz.

Ah, that explains the "MV". Odd that it would have different programing.

it's very odd, even under the programmable alarms, on the dedicated version you can set an alarm for Aux2 switch being in the UP position, on my MV you can not and on one of my jets I'd prefer Aux2 be in the down position during initialization, i can get an alarm for Middle and Down but not Up

I agree. Two sets of programs/two manuals and a nightmare to support remembering what radio has what functions compaired to the other! I can't understand why JR would do that!

Looks like I will have to stay with my p-mixes then!

Thanks

This probably not due to a difference in the models but whether the transmitter has the original or upgraded programing. I have one of the first 12X MV. I cannot get dual servos on the elevator and ailerons with the delta wing. I can get the alarm for the AUX2U position. Also I don't have programable momentary switches nor does the balance work properly for the 4-aileron wing.

Assuming this is a software version difference:

1) How do you identify what version of Software your 12X has?
2) Was the DELTA dualing removed from the later software delibritaly or by mistake?

i was told that the only differences in the firmware (not software) update was the momentary switching of the eyebrows. my first MV didn't have the latest update so they overnighted me a new TX with the updated software and a recall tag for the other one being I'm their #1 customer

No. BTW, I came across this thread from a message referencing it in the JR/Spektrum forum. My main interests are pattern and sailplanes. I'm also certain there is a problem with one of the sailplane menus. But its not unexpected to find problems with new equipment.
