Pat,

Most installations will require some restriction in the flow volume to keep the gear and/or doors from slamming up/down. This is unrelated to the delay you set between the gear and door sequencing.

For my particular installation (Skymaster ViperJet) I found that I needed more restriction to slow the gear down. I replaced one of the provided restrictors with a Robart, which has a smaller diameter. Note that a restrictor on either side (up or down) will affect the flow in both directions since the air is restricted both going into the cylinder and out. You usually have to experiment a little.

Craig,

Thanks for the info I was looking at doing that very thing on my Bobcat nose Gear, it needs slowing down. I have a set of the robart valve and it is good to no there is a differance. have you seen much differance if they are installed close to the cyclinder or anywere in line????

Pat,

One thing you want to watch on installing one restricter just on one circuit is, when you slow down one side it can or may speed up the other because of preasure differance/change. This is something you just have to experiment with. Every set-up will be differant in this respect.

Pat,

It doesn't matter where in the line you install the restrictor but you might want to put it where it is accessible. I needed to slow down all my gear so I put the restrictors close to where the line exits the unit. You can see them in this picture.

These guys don't like working under 6 volts. Keep that in mind if it doesn't seem to work.

Craig,

I am going to use A123 batteries without any regulator one in a Skymaster f-4 and the other skymaster F-16 I have had real good luck with this in four other Aircraft that have 100 pluse flight and no problems. Voltage is 6.0 +or - .5 volts so it should be good for the valve operation

That's exactly what I using with my EVSD, unregulated A123's. No problems at all.

Anybody have an issue with one of the read outs Gear or Brake can't remember which one, but one of them reads constant 240+ psi , while the other works flawless. The valve functions correctly just one of the read outs wont change value now Very odd....

Thanks,
C

Sounds like a pressure sensor went bad. What PSI are you filling the system to? Give us a call and we can replace the unit for you.

Much appreciated Todd, I only fill it up to 100 to 115 or so PSI... I'll give you a call this week sometime...

Thanks,
Cy

Craig,

I was also woundering about the comment I heard that it was a good idea to Bleed the air off the supply Tanks so not to store the with pressure on the bellows in the valve.

Any ideas about this.

Pat,

That's the first time I have heard that. I can tell you that when you turn off power to the unit the pressure is released from the gear/doors but the tanks stay pressurized. I have no idea if that is harmful to whatever it is inside the unit blocking the air, certainly not in the short term. Seems like the manual would say if it was. Maybe Todd knows.
