Tomahawk-Design Bae Hawk 1: 3.5

Another system I can strongly recommend for air control is the Intairco dual valve, gear and doors. The actual valves are servo actuated and controlled by a JetTronics sequencer. Long tests show it to be totally leak free and the added bonus is that it has separate speed controllers as well as an integrated pressure guage. I use this system in my SG Hawk. I have two large air tanks in the centerline tank, (Red Arrows) several gear sequences are possible. Worth a look : www. intairco.net

Interesting event: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...awk-100-a.html
Wonder if the canopy failed due to high internal air pressure: the nose gear doors remain open and the main gear doors open slightly during some passes...

Thanks for the info Dave, can you elaborate on which joint(s) it was and how severe it was?
A flexing fuselage joint could have lead to an in-flight break-up.

are you using detail scale close parts?
mine blow up in the first 30 seconds of fly... i discover that as the hawk fuselage is a bit flexible.. the hook mecanism that holds the canopy flex to the side and the canopy open.. after change the canopy and did a new close system no more problem.

My apologies, this should have gone in the SKYGATE Hawk thread,!
Fin failure. As described in RCJI I repaired my original fin after the cracking during its first flight. Subsequent flying was fine.
However, I ordered a new fin, but I don't see much difference in structural strength and will enhance it as I did on my repaired fin.
The new fin has slightly different tube sizes and locations compared with the original. This was overcome by using carbon fibre tubes with some slop in the fin tube which was undersized in the fin receiving tubing. This allowed me to get perfect alignment with Hysol taking up the slop.
The new fin will be painted in the latest Red Arrows design, giving me a choice of schemes.
Agreed, it flies beautifully, particularly at the higher weights, no more "bag of air".

Remco
For some reason the rcuniverse will not allow me to send a message to your private message.
The tank is 30 cm long
The height is 14 cm
Cannot get an accurate width but clears the air intakes by 2.5 cm on each side
Jettech makes it as a standard tank, when I ordered it I just said I wanted the 6 liter rectangular tank for the tomahawk hawk

Hi guys
I have been following this old thread closely as I am building my hawk. Finally I got my dream plane :-)
It will have a Behotec 220, Futaba gear and will have the UAE paint scheme. I am also making an opening canopy or thinking about it as it is not an easy task
gear is alredy painted and waiting for a pilot from Wilson as well as the decals from Ralle.
there is some small deformation on the canopy and the front fuse flexes a lot. I was planning to add some carbon to reinforce specially if an opening canopy is to be made. I also opened a door for turbine install
I have also decide to install servos on the tail.
Please see pics and welcomed to make some imputs
Thanks
Nuno
