I have always used .75 oz cloth to glass my planes. However, I'm thinking of using a heavier weight for the tail of the TGA Mig 29 I'm building. All the grain runs the same way and just doesn't appear to be very strong. I am a little concerned about tail weight/ overall weight due to the extra epoxy needed to fill heavier cloth. Any input?

Hank,
I've been using 1.5-oz and 2-oz cloth on parts like that with good results. Just don't use resin like you're frosting a cake. The overall wieght difference probably will be less than a few ounces.

.50 to .75 oz cloth is fine for the TGA Mig or the F-15. any thing else is over kill. UNLESS you are putting a turbine in it.Even then .75 would be fine.
A sub former inside will do wonders for the flex. The new versions have one on each side for that reason.

does this and its actually way stronger and lighter than 1.5 oz single layer.
