JMA Honnington event

First day of the two day event at Honnington today, weather guessers scared many away, yet we had great weather, one light shower and changing skies allowed all day flying. Only damper was a light cross wind, which caused a few scraped tips.
I had plenty of flying with my Inspiration, Habu and Spark EDF 11s, plus the pleasure of two test flights on Andy Bascombe's GJC Skyray DSX-12/P60 and Jonathan Glass's Jetlegend Hawk DSX-12/G-Booster 80. Both test flights went without hitch, the Skyray took a couple of flights to dial in, where as the Hawk was spot on out of the can.
Plenty of new models, Jason Fletcher's UB, Mark Tilbury's F-16, Sniper's 104 and others.
More tomorrow

Dave,
I'm marooned on family duties today and tomorrow (don't even get to watch the Grand Prix either) but good old Geoff and Jamie were thoughtful enough to call me this afternoon reporting how good a time everybody was having...thanks guys...much appreciated!
I heard that Jason's UB is something to see, and stories about one or two others, but from the pictures you posted, it looks like Mark had his F-14 and big F-86 there, how did they perform...any pics? Is that Jamie's smoking Bobcat? Andy's Skyray looks gorgeous...hope to see that, and Jonathan's Hawk, soon at Wtn.
Cheers,
Dick

Just got back from Honington and I had a great time. The weather was ok on Saturday but today was not the best although there's still a fair amount of flying going on with 3 up most of the time. Thanks to Mark and his crew for making the airfield available to the JMA. I'm already looking forward to the next Honington event later this year...

More from Sunday, not a nice day, wind had swung 180 degrees to our faces and the sky was often dark, but still plenty of flying. More flights on the F 4D Skyray with Rob photo man on the camera, later flights without the tanks show a big improvement-I'll post on the GJC thread.
More of Jason's UB, John Wrights Curtis, Flashes galore (perfect model for todays weather) Dave Buggins flew his flash breaking his virgin status. Robbie meeek was reminding me to ask why did I sell my Lightning to him[

Still a good day

Pulled up with my dog hushed dog into caravan quick thinking the lady dont allow dogs. As I done so barked told the world he was there! Turns out today she allows dogs!
Saturday night was hilourous.
Got locked in the campsite - so couldnt get my car out. I thought the mini may have gone through the gap but they were sure it wouldn't. So that was the excuse for drinking.
We then walked around the corner to the Fox pub - Keith got chatted up by the Gay landlord and got offered to Room 7 - he drank his pint like a fish. He got very worried, but it was soo funny as he touched his hand

. Then we got the barmaid to chaffeur us to the pub where everyone else was - she made the comment the landlord likes blondes - your ok then Lau they said. I said no good he is a poof - after afew Vodka and cokes mind!It came out last night it is Mark Hintons Birthday today!
Joe was poorly went home early today - dont think he flew.
Missed a gooden Paul!

As Dave W said i broke my jet virginity. Got myself a second hand Flash from Colin Gontier for a vast amount of money
Thanks.
Then had it set up extremely well from the very talented Mr Wiltshire and test flown by Dave and Steve Roberts.[ I think they wanted to use all my Kerosebne instead of flying their own planes
.
Arrived today to a cold windy airfield with Robbie Meek who promptly said come on your gonna fly this thing. He took off then handed me the controls. What a great plane, flew round started to get used to it then handed it back to Robbie to land.
2nd flight. I took off had some really good fun, these planes are so precise and awesome went to hand it to Robbie who said your plane you land it. He spoke me through it all the way and with the crow brakes set up by Dave and Steve landed far easier than i expected.

5 flights later and the last landing was a greaser[WOT COLD WINDY DAY].A big Thankyou to everyone, i just hope this jet malarky isn't addictive.

No of course it isn't, this will be the only jet you will ever buy, prop stuff will remain just as exciting and you won't be counting the days until you get to fly the flash again... NOT! Sorry but the bug has bitten you and you may as well give Dave all the money in your bank account now!

Congrats on the solo.

Dave, touch the tarmac for me. Last time I was there was in the early sixties on QRA duty on Victors, wish I could have been there, Ron

Scratched the tarmac with my Habu skids a few times
. A mile and a half of runway...great place for the lucky club members who fly there.
Dave, it's just the beginning...I remember when I thought one jet was enough! Then I had 3, 7,9, 14 and an out of control 18...now in control with just 10.

Dave Bugz, well done on your virgin experience, sounds like you did really well. The Flash is a great sports jet, as you know I built myself another one when I sold you the T birds one. Still I like to keep busy ?!?! Look forward to seeing you at the club field with it.
Im gutted I missed this weekend. Roll on CJ at Abingdon !

Was my first Honington . . . and what a great meet it was!! i managed to take plenty of video and have some good video of Vic's Skymaster Sabre, Ali's speed machine and emergency undercarraige lowering technique for his Hawk. Mark Hinton had a few issues with his van on the saturday evening and after a few jump start attempts, Mick Houselander got it started by towing it behind his X5.
