A huge thanks to Dave W for all his help and support with the Hawk. I just can't wait for the 16th now for Classic Jets to get to grips with it. Here is a picture of the Maiden flight flown by DW.

Another pleasure, other than the leg issue it was another faultless production...great flying aeroplane, big surprise.

Yes, looking forward to CJ myself

Is there any possibility that you could fly them a bit further away from the barrack blocks next time though? Some people have the misfortune to live and sleep here, and it has seemed that unusually, not a lot of consideration was afforded to that fact this weekend, especially early in the mornings.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, I honestly DO appreciate that you have to have somewhere to fly, and it is great to get a free show through the window, but weekends aren't necessarily applicable to the shift workers and night workers who live here, and complaints from them might quickly put a stop to that. I use the airfield for my off roader trucks and buggies, but out of common courtesy I go down the south of the airfield where the motocross/enduro track has been built. I also appreciate that you probably have fixed positions to fly from, but please consider how you might feel with that noise outside YOUR window first thing in the morning. Thanks.

Sorry we disturbed you, yes we were given the position by the airfield. I thought there was no flying before 10am each day, I'll check with the organising crew before the next event.

Paul,
Why didn't you come up and speak to the guys? I'm sure if the organisers knew what was happening they would have sorted it straight away.

Dave, thank you very much.

Laura; I didn't complain directly to the organisers because I honestly had (and have) no desire to interrupt your fun. It was purely by chance that I discovered the thread when I logged on from the main site and saw "Honington" in the title which made me curious. I just wanted to make you aware that some people were disturbed by the proximity, especially after I remembered reading another "Honington" thread a couple of months back (which was re-named) and people were discussing decreasing access to airfields for flying. Granted, I don't know anything about the reasons behind this situation, but I'd hate to see Honington to be added to that list because of people complaining. You were lucky in a sense that this fell over Easter Weekend and a lot of people were away, but I'm here regularly at weekends and the noise was much more noticable than usual. If this had been a regular weekend, I would think a lot more people would have been disturbed, people probably with more of an inclination to complain to their chain of command than me... Please on behalf of all of us, try not to disturb the residents of the blocks.

Thank you both and regards.

Paul,
Im asking something that probably the others are thinking!
Your a modeller by the 43 posts you have put on RCU. Are you annoyed due to the Airfield being booked to the JMA for a jet meet and not a normal flying day?

There was no flying before the briefing which was 10am.

doesnt sound like a problem that couldnt be solved with a bit of tweaking if needed, best left in the hands of the organisers i think

Laura, I am a modeller, yes, but trucks and cars as opposed to aircraft. I have, however, been the subject of complaints from people living in the blocks about the noise when I use my cars and trucks on the old aircraft dispersal near the Fire Section. I allegedly disturbed some people sleeping off nights and have been "advised" shall we say, to ensure I don't disturb other people in the blocks. There are quite a few night and shift workers here who tend to complain very quickly when disturbed, so I was merely trying to let you know that it might be in your best interests to steer clear. I appreciate too that the brief stated that there was no flying before 10am, but I feel that you should be aware that a few people have already been complaining that flying started earlier than was stated (between 9 and 10am). The start time has not been the main gripe; whilst it did not particularly affect those already awake, off, or working a normal day, it does not detract from the fact that duty personnel also work nights here. For example, 2 firemen in my corridor are working nights currently and were extremely annoyed at having been kept awake. Not particularly fair when you are working 12 hours on, 12 hours off and trying to sleep during the day. The complaints I have heard since Saturday are not generally related to the timings of the day, more the noise noticable in the blocks from the apparent unusual proximity. Personally, living in one of the furthest blocks away from where you guys normally fly and seeing where some of the jets appeared to be, I have to agree. If you are as frequent a visitor to Honington as I suspect, you will know that the regular flyers never seem to venture too far south down the runway.

Look , I am not a forum troll, I am honestly not trying to pick a fight with anyone here, this is meant as friendly advice from someone who has fallen foul of killjoys here before, so no offence was intended, but take it as you will.
