I was under the impression the Li-Ions were less likely to exploded and catch fire than Lipo's. They may be but they are not immune and I after this morning, I'm glad I took them out of my jet to charge them.
I was charging 2 2600mah Fromeco packs and a 5200 ecu pack with my Fromeco Li ion Cube on my front porch. I heard a huge crash , what I thought was a tree that had fallen on the house , and ran to the front door. I found one of the receiver packs had come from together and destroyed the other by proximity. Cheap to replace and a couple small fires to put out, so no disaster.I'm just so glad they werent in the nose of my flash

Hey Cody, this is the first I have ever heard of Li-Ion packs having problems such as this. I have been using them for years with no problem and using the Fromeco cube ever since it came out. Does your Cube have the Brain card (I think that is what they call it) and if so, what amperage were you charging at. I usually have my packs built with a seperate charging lead and rarely take them out of the plane, be it a jet or big gasser. If the charger survived I would sure check it out before using it again.

Ken, I do not have the brain so there is no way to adjust any settings. Seems like it charges at 1amp may 1.5, its slow. I'm wondering it it isnt some sort of charger problem. I am going to contact Fromeco, they have been pretty good in the past. The charger was blown several feet away in the explosion and it fell 3 ft to the concrete. It will not work now but I dont know if that was caused when it fell.

Hi Cody,
You are right, this is an extraordinarily rare event. Usually there is some other factor that is involved that may be known, or unknown to you. We are very anxious to speak with you tomorrow at some point. We believe we have your e-mail on file and Mike has already sent you an e-mail. We won't be in the office until tomorrow afternoon 12:00 PST. Please give us a call some time after that. If at all possible can you take a picture of the remains of the battery and reply to Mikes e-mail with that picture. We probably won't be able to gain any insight from it, but it would be nice to have. We will want to see that charger back for testing. After you take a picture, you can dispose of the battery, do not try and send it back.
We will be expecting your call or an E-mail with your phone number so we get you all fixed up and try to determine what happened.
