This is a little bit OT question.I know the turbine is brand new,but I can get it for 2200 euros from modellbau pollack but I can also get P160SX for 2800 euros. Is it worth giving 600 euros more for jetcat or kingtech is good?

AdriFly, its difficult if not impossible for us to help you to make a purchasing decision, but here are some facts that I could share:

JetCat 160SX pros:
1) respectable brand name quality with excellent reputation
2) a good 3 year warranty
3) proprietary ECU
JetCat reps are welcome to friendly inputs

KingTech K-170E pros:
1) higher thrust
2) a limited lifetime warranty
3) less expensive
4) Taiwan and US diesel compatible

Other than that, both turbines use appropriate materials, brand name German bearings and world renowned fuel pumps.
Perhaps, go with what you feel most comfortable, most of us turbine manufacturers back up what we sell and offer a great support. You have definitely done enough research, perhaps its time to put something together and start flying soon before the summer is over.

Good Luck,
Barry

By the way, in support of LA Jets Summer 2010, here's an opportunity for all, to own a K-170E for a great price:

Just to clarify, are all repairs done in Taiwan or California for North american customers?

reo, for now, before our full service workshop is set up here in California, all electrical/electronic related repairs, inside front cover are done here in California, anything core related will have to be sent back to Taiwan as KingTech has a strict standard on how it is balanced and put together. It usually takes about 3 to 4 days for EMS to arrive each way and another 2 to 4 working days in the factory for any repair or maintenance.

Here's a boomerang XL powered by #001 K-170, had a ton of fun over at Camp Pendleton this last Saturday, comes in slow at idle, pull up 90 degrees then apply full throttle and watch it go vertical, unlimited

So the boomer is just about stalled, with the nose pointing vertical, before applying full throttle ? with the best will in the world, spool up time is 4 seconds, thats one impressive tail slide.

It says that it is 18.5 oz per minute.

How does one "just about stalled" an aircraft at idle and still be able to pull and point the nose up vertical is beyond me...
Can't imagine the best of 3D foamies to do that without some propwash over the surfaces.

Obviously you exaggerated my entry speed and AOA

Thanks for reading though,

Cheers,
Barry

Honestly what it says and what it could be are two totally different things. Look at Jetcat saying the P120SX uses 12oz per minute at WOT. Total bunk as it uses closer to 16 at WOT. I was hoping someone had possibly tested the consumption in real world applications but I suppose it's a bit new for that.

18.5 oz/min is a conservative average to go by when timing fuel consumption, at full throttle it gulps 600cc or 20.3oz./min this was concurred by the factory in Taiwan.

Hope this helps,

Barry

XL is such a fun plane. The 170 turned it into an entirely different animal from the leisure flying K-80 powered, I must say it's equally fun.

I was hoping Scott Plummer from Plane Video Art was going to be there tomorrow for LA Jets Summer 2010, unfortunately he is not going to make it this weekend. So, we'll see what we can do.....

You get the Lightening going I sold you at KY Jets yet. I would like to see some video of how it pushes it around. I know how a P160 did, would like see it compared to the K170. Later Robert

Sure, that's on Chuang's long list of "things to do". right now they are cranking out 170s and trying to get the prototype 210 ready before end of August.

Robert, thanks for the Lightning, its a beautiful plane. I should have read the manual more carefully about the precise CG location, rather than relying on old markings and not knowing about the location should be with or without the wing (cuz, on manual is without) in any event, I had fun with the plane besides a bumpy landing or two. Next time out, I plan to double check and follow the manual.

Photos were taken during LA Jets this past weekend, nonetheless, the K-170 performed flawlessly.
