Here's mine - Note the balsa block glued in at midspan of the actuator rod. Some of us have experienced the door pulling overcenter when opening, thus preventing closure. The block prevents this condition.

Hello Jean-Phillip,

i used for Flap pos.1 elevator neutral, and for flap pos 2 elevator up 2-3mm. On both positions i have programmed a smooth delay. CG was by 40mm.

I have the same scheme than you :D:D

I am surprised your CG position is 40mm. :eek:Some people fly at 50mm !! Isn't it too much "nose heavy" at 40mm ?

And what are your flaps position (position 1 and 2) ??

Hi Jean-Philippe,

sorry, a little mistake. CG was by 45mm from the middle of the wing tube, not 40mm. Maiden flight was with CG 50mm, but i think this was a little too nose heavy.

Flap position are like the manual, works great. Start with pos 1. Landing with pos.2, you think someone will hold your plane when you get full flaps :D

Hi !
My maiden flyght was on Sunday, and I almost crash the plane because all the controls were to sensitive, and on takeoff the main tires came off the rim,
are you guys are using the stock main wheels and brakes ? how I can stop the tires coming out from the rim?

I glued them for the maiden, but they came out .

Will your trailing link struts fit into the new Ultra-Lightning wing?

We are waiting for our Ultra-Lightning to arrive - we probably won't see it before late Summer since they are not yet done with the new mold for the modified fuse. Several of the old lightning's at our field used P-160's and found that the increased weight and residual thrust were too much for the Behotec brakes. Can you recommend a system with more power than the Behotec's offered by C-ARF? We plan to use a P-160SX.

our new oleo,s do fit the ultra lightning wing , infact the first set went to someone who owns a new UL.

yes you need a larger brake system for more brake power
i suggest you use the jet-1A wheels for that
they have 110mm wheels and large brake setups.
and they use diskbrake instead of the pushout o-rings
they do fit our lightning struts also.

Regarding balancing the Lightning without the wings in place, and with the wing tube underneath, I assume the CG is established with the Nose gear retracted ? . The manual omits mention of the nose gear position when balancing. Thanks. Paul.

For those using the stock Behotec main struts...
The lower section is hollow and has a weak area - see red circle below. The strut can bend here & cause binding, preventing it from sliding in & out smoothly. Inserting a piece of 6mm dowel stock eliminates this weak point. I've been using this mod for the past couple months off rough grass, including a few hard landings. I have not had any problems or issues.

Guys,
What Straight style nose gear strut are you using to replace the stock one? The front of the jet sits low, this causes extended runway for takeoff.

Keep the trailing link style on the nose. I use the longer 162mm Behotec strut # NL162 and 3.5" (89mm) tire # R4-V. I got these parts thru http://altecarerc.com/

The longer strut has a weak strut link collar & can break, so just swap the thicker one over from your stock strut. The larger wheel uses the same rim, so that's an easy change. You may even be able to use the 176mm strut, but you would need to check your clearances. The longer nose strut greatly improves rotation & lift off. It was one of the best mods I did & will use it when I get the Ultra Lightning.

Can you show me a pic of your nose strut installed using the forward geardoor? I am curious how you have your strut opening the gear door that opens forward.
